I am currently playing a 625 pts per month escalation fantasy league (it got me started on my lizzies) on the 27th of December we are having a huge 8-9 player game with 2500 pts each plus 1000 pts of lord if we want it (end times) For my 1000 I'm running a oldblood carno with armour of destiny, halberd and dawn stone and will probably though something else on him to cover the extra magic points My question is how I should run the slann? He can sit in a block of 30 tg or run ethereal alone, how should I run him? With what magic items (he's running standard of discipline)? And what slann disciplines? And most importantly what lore? (For anyone who asks the halberd is so the oldblood can be initiative buffed, I'm thinking of switching it for the +1 strength or attack sword so he has magical attacks and can take a shield because there are lots of unded and that means LOTS of ethereal)
The answer to your questions is probably based on the rest of your army composition. You will probably be running all your current models, as you started with the escalation league. So a short rundown of your list tells us if you lack magic or might. Also: do you really mean you have 2500 points in an army, and then 1000 points more in Lords/heroes?
It's a 2500 pts army (with characters included) and we are given an extra 1000 pts for extra characters The list at the moment is 6 kroxigor 32 Saurus 12 skirmishes 12 skirmishes 24 cohort 3 rippers Ancient steg Bastilodon 2 skink priests A skink chief An oldblood And 16 spear Saurus
Hmm... Carno needs support, and wd gives excellent support. High also has a decent heal, and convocation will help with hordes, which seems to be your bane here. Honestly? Drop the spear saurus, add some chameleons, and go TG bunker with razor standard. You do not have enough skinks to do a cloud, and solo slann with UP can be tricky. High magic loremaster, and swap for life spells. Do channeling staff and harmonic convergence/becalming. You will face mighty wizards and powerful Lords, so be the best toad you can be with consistently more magic dice than the opposition. And add a Sivejrs hex scroll to one Priest, to handle ruby ringers/soul quenching high Elf lords and powerful, low level casters like demon Princes and Vampires, if those are common in your local meta.
Thanks for the advice, I have dropped the spears in lieu of some chameleons and 2 salamanders as well
