The skink astromancers at my temple city forsee a great many skinks going to the slaughter to this list. My thoughts are that you won't have enough maneuverabilty to avoid charges with all the large infantry units on the table. Despite their good SCR, I don't see many heavy hitting units having trouble squishing T2 skinks to easily beat that. It definitely is an interesting idea.
The point is to overwhelm enemies with sheer weight of numbers and high speed manouevers-but do you think an EOTG is in order? or perhaps cold ones.......
Yeah I can't really see anything scary there... You have 5 large ranked units, which is a fair few, but one on one they are going to bounce off literally anything else in the game with 3 ranks short of maybe goblins or skaven slaves. All your support are skirmishers, which means they cannot negate ranks and won't do much good in flank support. You will need to rely on getting some of your big units into the flank to support, but even that will be beaten by elite units and you cannot rely on getting a 5x5 unit successfully onto a flank. It unfortunately adds money to the army, but you will probably need a lot of kroxigors in this list to make it successful. And split a couple of the units to 10-12 skink flanking forces, not skirmishing. These guys will be able to manouvre easier and get to flanks to remove ranks. You will still need a krox or two at the front to kill and make sure you win combat though. Just throwing in an engine may help a bit, but it would immediately become the focal point of the list since it will be the most damaging thing there. As a large target it will cop all of the long range from turn one and probably not survive. I think it needs a fair bit of work to become competative. Keeping the theme would involve dropping a unit or two for 2-3 more kroxigors scattered among the rest, making a few small flanking units, and playing it really well with the skirmishers and salamanders weakening the enemy before you engage. Hope that helps.
hmmmm, lets see then general- skink chief-ench shield-dagger of sotek- venom of the firefly frog- blowpipe- light armour- 115 pts BSB- skink chief with shield, lght armour @ totem of prophecy (he can use shield even though he has banner right?) 142 pts Skink priest-lvl 2, 2 scrolls 150 pts skink priest lvl 2 w diadem and scroll-150 pts 30 skinks w banner, musician, champion, 1 kroxigor- 227 pts 25 skinks w banner musician, krox 194 pts 25 skinks w banner musician, krox 194 pts 25 skinks w banner musician. krox 139 pts 12 skinks 60 12 skinks 60 10 skink skirmishers 70 pts 10 skink skirmishers 70 pts 10 skink skirmishers 70 pts 4 terradons 120 pts salamander w extra handler 80 pts salamander w extra handler 80 pts total-1990-unsure where last 10 should go total models-145 So I added a kroxigor to each unit, this will help them win combat against "elites" (play alot of skaven-but OG and tk to...the immune to fear will be invaluble vs the undead)
That looks a lot better, immune to fear all round is a good addition. 10 points? Either put musicians on the two small units so they rally easier, or just add a random skink to whichever unit. One extra US and wound before a rank is lost, might as well. I'm not sure that totem of prophecy is quite worth the points now that all the units have a fear causer in them.... Sure it makes all the skinks have fear too so you get the US, but it might be better to give him something else. Sword of might maybe? The ability to make an opponent you beat in combat autoflee is a pretty good one though, up to you. He can have a shield with the banner too, the only restriction for BSB now is that if they take a magic banner, they cannot have other magic items and vice versa. Remember your units are going to start a slightly odd shape since the kroxigor takes 4 spaces. You could reduce your units to 21 and 26 respectively to make them a more even size at the start of the battle, this gives you the points for 16 extra skinks which is a whole unit. Or leave the big unit as is and make an extra unit of 12.
