I've never played Dwarves before, I was wondering if anyone had some tips/tricks for me before I play this guy tonight. I think we're playing a 2k point game. I'm planning on running 2 units of 6 chamos, 2 sallies, and I'm thinking lore of light to charge my way across the board as fast as possible with my 2 saurus blocks and temple guard. Do I need to take any special precautions when it comes to my slaan and his war machines? I've read Stegadons get wrecked by war machines but I feel like the 5+ ward against ranged attacks could really help.

I've used the EotG and it's 5+ Ward to great effect against Dwarves. Having your Cameleons will do a lot for you against his war machines. Beware the Dwarf Lord however, he is a nasty peice of work and can ruin your Saurus units really quick.

Using your Salamanders is great because it'll help negate his armour against shooting but I wouldn't expect him to fail to many leadership checks. ALL Dwarves are Ld 9 with their Kings being 10. The other nice thing is that you'll likely strike first too which'll be nice in reducing his units before he strikes back at you.

So the game went really poorly for him. First turn his anvil of doom rolled 1 then 1 to fall off the table along with his general, and failed his panic test on his bolt thrower. He missed on his first cannon shot at my EotG, even with rune of forging. He misfired and rolled a 6 on one of his organ guns, and the other one wasn't in range. Otherwise no shooting for him. I managed to kill the one organ gun with chameleons, and charged up the field bottom of 1. He railed the Stegadon on turn 2, cannon for 4 wounds and organ gun firing 10 shots. That sucked for me, but thats all he got all game. I had a comet come down on my 2nd turn, killed his cannon and organ gun, which was awesome. Rest of the game was me owning magic and pounding him in combat.

Some notes: EotG 5+ ward against ranged attacks did not save me from his shooting, and my stegadon got pounded super easy. Losing his Runesmith with 2 runes of dispelling was game-breaking, as my magic went unchecked all game, a very surprising occurrence against dwarves so I understand. Also, it was about freaking time some warmachines misfired and didn't rail me, I swear thats what makes me lose games.

Notice: Dwarves don't always die easy they are quite capable of wiping out half your army before you've dented any of their own units.

Also my friend's dwarf lord, can't remember which setup, is referred to as being the cheese lord with the cheese weapon and the rune of cheese. It butchered pretty much everything single handed while his other units sort of sat around not fast enough to keep up with the combats.
