I recently returned to warhammer after about 9 years away. I started rebuilding my Lizardmen Army and realized how much prices of GW items have gone up. They were high in 2002, now there completely crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions as to alternative lizardmen models. The Reaper and Black Orc models are cool, but don't really fit. Anyone know if Mantic is planning Lizards? Anyone with any suggestions let me know.

    Thanks

Don't know about alternatives, but ebay is a common option. If you want a metal model, ebay and GW are your only choices. If you want to do a purchase of several plastic boxes, you can talk with your local store owner about getting a 10%-15% discount. Most stores get a 35% discount but you're not supposed to know that. Anyway, if you're getting several boxes that he doesn't have on the shelf (stores around here can have a huge GW selection and 1 lizard box) you can try and talk him down on the order. If he's not a dick, he'd rather have your business at a reasonable discount than have you go to ebay. If he has all the boxes you need on the shelf already however, it's more awkward to ask about getting a deal so I wouldn't do it. Lastly, the smaller the store, the less likely he gets a 35%, the more product a store can push the better their discount. If you're in north america, you can google alliance games and look at the guest catalog to see what your store is capable of ordering.

If you're in the UK try Dark Sphere. They do a 25% discount on all the GW stuff they do, which is most of the range.

I know what you mean about prices, when I started rhinos we're £12!

I've seen a few alternate lizardmen from Reaper, but they don't really have a scratch on most of the GW stuff, and as they're metal are about the same price.

    Hope that helps, Bez

If you live in the U.S., the warstore (google them) gives a 20% discount on all GW products/

if you are anywhere but australia www.maelstromgames.co.uk have nice prices too (and free shipping). its 50% cheaper to buy stuff there for me than in the GW stores (i live in sweden) because GW decided that when converting prices, one pound = 15 SEK. that was true... 10 years ago. now its 1£ = 10 SEK, and since maelstrom charges you in poinds, you get the stuff MUCH cheaper.

so remember that you lucky britts. in sweden we pay 50% more than you for the same stuff :p

    viva la internet revolution!

ps. also, make chameleon skinks from regular skinks to save money ;)

In the states, you could also check craigslist (not sure if it exists outside the states). I have picked up a fairly large number of models there. I got over 3k of Orcs and Goblins for $80. I also got over 3k of Ogres for $125. You can really get good deals on there if you keep your eye out.

Another option would be bartertown. I have never used it, but it seems like you could do ok on there too.

Don't complain, in Australia we pay DOUBLE the UK prices and GW has now taken away the option of us buying overseas cheaper while you can still use Maelstrom...

Lucky, most other miniature companies aren't ran by nobs so I am simply not using GW anymore.
