Hey everyone,

I was just trying to find out if anyone knows any good alternative models for chameleon skinks. I'm preparing for a tournament next month and you are required to have all your models complete with a minimum of 3 colors. I really don't want to spend the $100 for 15 chameleon skinks from GW. I've seen people convert normal skinks but I'm not the handiest with green stuff and I would like my models to look more unique if possible.

Thanks guys!

normal skinks: cut crests off, paint them different, if you want sculpt better tails and eyes with green stuff (but it's probably overkill)

What have you got that you could do conversions with?
Do you have any of the old plastic 5th Ed skinks with bows in the pose where the bow is down and almost hidden?
Edit1: If you did, convert by shaving away the crest (as already suggested). Hollow out the eye sockets with a drill or dremel bit (turning slowly by hand) and install a 2 or 3 mm spherical bead (craft section at either Walmart / Hobby Lobby or else a bead jewelry making store)

Does this tournament freely admit models from other makers?
Edit2: From Reapers Catalog: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/frog/sku-down/03146
They are frogs; $30 bucks for six; already have bulging eyes; converting spear hafts to blow pipes should not be hard.

Honestly, this is probably the easiest conversion that I've ever done. I went so far as adding the green stuff eyes as per Matzotyl's conversions in the threat NIGHTBRINGER linked, but left it at that, and they look fine.

Sounds awesome! Post some pictures if you get the chance.

Thanks for the response. I might try to conversion Nightbringer suggested. It doesn't seem overly complicated and it does look pretty unique. Going to head to the store tomorrow to pick up some of the materials.
Thanks guys!

Found these while i was searching for ideas, pretty smart!

I had seen something very similar to those previously. The guy who had converted them, had the skinks hiding in all sorts of places including bushes, logs, rocks, etc. It's pretty clever!

genius! I'll do the same with skinks hiding in toilet cabins (for ladies hopefully)
