ok so have a 1500pt battle against vamps on thursday, i know he's running 3 vamps, grave guard, big block of skeletons, dire wolves and i think hex wraiths.
I really want to use my slann and my eotg as i've never had them out in anger before, so here goes

Slann - light, focused rumination, becalming cogitation, cupped hands
Skink Priest - ancient steg, eotg
    20 Saurus - standard bearer
    20 Saurus - standard bearer
    10 Skirmish Skinks - blowpipe
    10 Skirmish Skinks - blowpipe
    Salamander Hunting Pack x 2

comes in at just over 1500

am I sacrificing a win just so I can use a relatively weak Slann and basic engine?

    Hello.

I don't see any big mistakes here. But i'd equip the Slann a bit diffrent. First only 1 discipline (rumination) And give him the Plaque of Tepok and Plaque of Protection. And a BSB. And You have a 345 point Slann :)

Personally I would run 1 cohort and 1 skirmisher unit.

But I'm a big fan of ranked skinks, and I almost never use skirmishers.. so I might be biased!

With Light, you can also buff your cohort to auto-pass leadership tests, and then charge it into a big block of his zombies/whatever. They'll hold the pit to the last skink. 50 points and some dedicated magic will lock down his sink pit.

You can of course do this with skirmishers too.. but cohorts are better in combat, and cheaper to throw away :meh:
