If an ancient stegadon is taken as a mount for a priest, with EotG, or as a mount for a chief, do they count toward the minimum unit count of 3, or would you have to have 3 more units aside from lords/heroes of course?

eight edition uses a percentage system, there is no more unit count.

I'm aware, but there is still a minimum of three units aside from lords/heroes on the battlefield.

page 134, under the minimum three units header...

I was mostly curious because there are 4 skink in the howdah, besides the character and his mount, if it were just the stegadon and the priest/chief, I'm pretty positive they wouldn't count toward the minimum, but there are other crewmen too.

If an ancient stegadon is taken as a mount, it counts into the hero allowance only. It does not count toward anything else.

So, since it's hero allowance, it does not count toward the minimum three units rule. Ok, thanks. =)
