So this is what Im rebuilding towards, and I have it in old minis so its also what Im going to be using in November for an all comers 2k tournament list. We recently got 6x4s at the LGS, previously it was all 4x4, so Im hoping the change *and 8th ed* wont throw me to far off in my list building. Any thoughts and advice are appreciated. Lords: Slann Mage Priest- Cupped Hands, Standard, Rumination, Focus of Mystery, Plaque of Protection, Sun Standard - *Lore of Light* Heroes: Saurus Scar Vet- Shield of the Mirrored Pool, Light Armor, Shrieking Blade- Core: 20 Saurus Warriors- Spears, Full Command- 20 Saurus Warriors- Spears, Full Command- 10 Skinks- Special: 15 Saurus Temple Gaurd- Full Command- 3 Kroxigor- Ancient- 4 Terradons- 5 Chameleons- Rare: 2 Salamanders- Extra Handler- Total: 2000pts. My first draft had two terradon flocks in it, but I switched one for some chameleons after a good showing from them in my 750pt practice games.
Some quick thoughts - please don't list point values, it will get you in trouble. Other things concerning points real quick - 6 chamelion skinks don't cost as much as you have them down for. Are you trying to make a Skrox cohort with the 3 krox and 10 skinks? If so you'll need a lot more skinks, there are rules on how many skinks you must have per every kroxigor in the cohort. Personally i'd find a way to get a few more TG.
No, the skinks are a screen and the kroxigor are their own unit as shown. I dont run skink cohorts, the low leadership combied with the horrible combat resolution isnt worth it. And I didnt have any item prices listed.... just the unit totals, wich is fairly standard through the net. Sorry? Your right, Chameleons only cost 2/3 of what I had them priced at.... So, I think Ill add in another terradon.
Its a rule on these forums that costs for a unit don't get posted, however its fine that you post amount of core/special/rare/lord/heroes however. Its in a sticky somewhere, not a big deal to me just letting you know.
Yeah your right people will get caught out by that one for a long time on hear because it is the standard through the net not to post individual point items but unit totals, I presumed as it was the standard for all other forums that it didn't infringe on GW IP otherwise we would have heard something by now Anyway to your list looks fairly solid for me I have turned away from light a bit lately though as the miscast thing is just too important with our slann being so many points and if you take light you HAVE to take cupped balls which is 45 points making him more expensive and only a 1 use only item. But its all down to flavour so I cant complain.
About the points costs: We delete them on this forum, because it is against copyright law. Now it is not very likely that we get a big law suit against us from GW, but still: we don't want to be waiting for it. Besides, every WH forum I know has this ruling. And the last few weeks I have been extra 'harsh', to enforce this ruling. And it shows: Individual members are now pointing their fellow members on this rule. Which is great! Sometimes I'm just too fast for you to edit, so I will do it The Hunted
I dont want to really get into this.... But Ill just list the old Eldar Online forums *now WH40Konline*, the B+C, Pyramid Vault, and Warseer as forums that Im on that do the point by unit thing, and as a Mod on the B+C Im familiar with GWs copywrite policies. However, this is your board, so Ill do it your way *spreads hands* not a problem. On cupped hands- I think its worth it, I dont tend to roll IF or MC very often, and frankly I feel that without an engine to ward up my saurus blocks I need the defensive abilities of Light, and the combat buffs are amazing.
looks ok, a few points (maybe...) on the slann, the plaque doesnt really do anything unless all the TG die right? seems a bit of a waste. on the scar-vet, has the shield of the mirrored pool come in useful? never looked that good to me, not that i've tried it. the chameleons look a bit small - i use mine for war machine hunting, and tbh i want that war machine dead in a single volley, so i take 7-9 per unit. i would split the salamanders, lets you shoot at 2 different targets, and deploy on seperate sides of the board if you want. the krox look rather expensive, especially with an ancient in there, and without life you'll have a hard time getting any use out of them against anyone with much ranged. maybe get a skrox unit instead?
