First paragraph says about saurus warriors: "They are regarded by many as one the best core infantry in the game". WHAT?! In which universe does this exists? Certainly not mine! haha Anyway, I read on.. Didn't mind the rare out-take, though i'm not sure that you can take more than 3 razordons in a unit. I don't have the book handy, so can't comment. In special, the author mentions that swarms get preditory fighter, again no book, so i can't confirm its validity. Also, i'd add to the swarms this: if i were to take them, i'd take a few of them and the arc of sotek, this would be the only way i'd take them And what? "Predatory Fighter is an issue as, unless you’re using the Cold One Riders as a hammer unit, you will probably be too far away from a Skink character to allow them to restrain pursuit which can cause issues".... i'm going to have to re-read predatory fighter. I didn't know this existed There's quite alot in the lords/spells section I don't agree with, sadly, which leads me to think the tactica i'd read here (by our friends!) to be more worthwhile.
I generally agree with our board's view of Saurus Warriors, but I will say EVERY player I go against at my GW whines and complains when I bring them regardless of how much that player then thrashes them....so I guess lots of other armies consider them to be great infantry....or something....
Have they, like, ever played against any other army? I mean.... at all? I mean sure, High elves spears and archers have a hard time with them, clanrats too (stormies are wicked though). Ungors are average, but they serve the same purpose as skink skirmishers.
Decent write-up! I'll defend the young Stegadon until I die though.. Seems to be one of the more efficient beneficiaries of the Bastiladon's Solar Engine.. When that thing faces another monster, I3 really is delicious/life-saving. Saurus Warriors are pretty 'meh' for what they cost... It would be nice if they were made into a more competitive choice. I take temple guard over them whenever possible... otherwise, skrox darts, skrox blocks and/or skirmishers. I almost never field Saurus Warriors. Edit: after some thought.. The option to purchase additional hand weapons for the squad would, to me, be pretty balanced. Lower armor save in exchange for an extra attack (goodbye shield), that extra attack makes the WS3 more bearable (the saurus philosophy is not to hit first, rather to hit BACK), it makes the 5.5ss base cost worth it (when compared to TG's price), it makes Predatory Fighter relevant, and even increase the value of Trog-lol-dons roar a good bit. Plus, additional attacks allow for more list diversity as players employ smaller squads to fulfill a different role than the current 'big-blocks-only' mentality.
