8th Ed. armour saves question

    ok so....

    i have a oldblood on a carnosaur with these items - armour of destiny (heavyarmour) (++4), and an obsidian trinket (1MR)

    so are these armour saves correct?

    +1 normal (+4 scaly skin, +1 mounted, +2heavy armour)

    +4 ward

    but becoming

    +3 ward against magic?

    am i correct?

    and a second question, if i may, do i have to buy normal armour and weapons then upgrade them to a magic weapon using the points listed or do i just buy the magic weapons/armour for the points they are/

    Correct, and you just buy the magic weapons. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to buy the armour of destiny, since we don't wear heavy armour!

    Also, be mindful that the ward saves, whether on it's own or boosted with Magic Resistance, only protect against spells that do damage. It's worthless against Hex spells. Might be obvious, but my friend tried adamantly claim that with MR you can take ward saves against all spells.
