Any advice on what to take in my army list vs the Necropolis Knights that TK have? I sent a unit of 5 CR + my mounted Scar Vet against 4 Necro Knights. Due to initiative, he killed all 5 CR before they had a chance to attack. My Scar Vet killed one but broke and ran. When I rallied and got charged again, I managed to inflict 7 wounds over 2 rounds before the Scar-vet finally went down. Any advice on a better unit match up? If I'd gotten a responding flank charge off (it failed) with another unit my Scar-vet would have survived but I still would have lost all my CR
Anything strength 5 or higher should work wonders! Temple guards, korxigor, bastiladon lazer beam, stegadon charge, saurus characters - but they are at risk because of killing blow! Honestly I think even a block of saurus warriors would be able to grind them down... the necro knights arent that strong really ..
I'd say stegadons, kroxigors and monster mounted characters are a good choice (as killing blow doesn't work on them).
Bog them down with skink chaff, poisoned shooting works a treat and you'll get a whole bunch of skinks for the same price as 4 necro knights. They're a pain to fight so don't fight them, or force him into a combat with a small skink unit which stands and shoots, you'll lose the unit but if the skinks kill one then their job is already done anyway.
How good is their armour save? 3+ and 3 wounds? I'd throw some skinks at them, although you'll need a lot of shots to kill off 3 (like 100+). Still though, if you can get 2-3 wounds them the skinks have done a decent job.
Wait.. 4 kroxigors with a champ will only be 15 points more expensive than 3 of those knights. Not Counting crumble the knights will be gone In the second round of combat, if we assume that we got the charge. However, we'll need to distract their archers because otherwise we won't be able to win the combat
I wouldn't recommend throwing skinks at the necropolis knights. TK have rubbish armour saves in general, so you don't want to throw your poisoned attacks at (literally) the only unit in the enemy army that has a decent (3+) armour save. Your skinks will be needed elsewhere - they are perfect versus all TK monsters, tomb guards or chariots. Try to kill the casket of souls (which will be included in every TK army) and hierotitan as fast as possible, to seriously cripple his magic phase. Saurus or TG blocks, krox, or magic are good vs the knights!
