I just picked up the armybook and had a quick looksie on the bustrip back. Is it just me or does a lot of the artwork look like utter shite? The old artwork is fine (apart from some strangely added colours sometimes), but the new artwork... It's like they no longer use their once talented artists but use those guys who make crappy artwork for those countless roleplaying manuals, putting about 15 minutes of work into each piece...
In some pieces the shapes look incredibly weird (like on page 43 and 56). Other times they look incredibly blurry (like the symbol right after the first geen page and the draing on page 4 and 5), as if they're just quick sketches or the painter suddenly had to stop after a certain amount of time:
GW: "That's good enough, thanks."
Artist: "But it ain't even finished. In fact, I've only just established the composition and colour scheme of..."
GW: "I said that's good enough. Here's your pay for your 2 hours of work. Now go."
The absolute worst has to be the Troglodon on page 37. Half my class from last year could make better artwork than that, seriously...
And then there's the small point of the photographs in the gallery:
GW employee 1: "Allright, first day of shooting! Let's bring out the awesome custom Lizardmen terrain!"
GW employee 2: "Uhm, yeah, we don't have any."
GW employee 1: "Seriously? Ok, then what DO we have?"
GW employee 2: "Here, use this Chaos, Vampire and Empire terrain."
GW employee 1: "Ugh, fine..."
