A unit filler would probably fix it. That way, you can give it some room. Like N810 said though, a picture will help.
sorry im not sure what a unit filler is?? http://media.photobucket.com/image/avatars of war lizardmen hero/N-large/Sauruscombi.jpg http://www.warhammeratweobley.co.uk/404_500_csupload_34833288.png?u=1350461020 http://www.avatars-of-war.com/images/aow34_blister.jpg
Unit filler is used to fill in a unit to make it look bigger than it actually is. The filler 'counts' as models in the unit. For example, you could take a monster base or glue together several saurus bases. Then mount something lizardmen like on the base. An excelet example is from Totzro's paintlog: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/children-of-qukaihuan-update-carnosaur-painted.7894/ That example is stunning. If you look page 9 on that thread, there is a picture of the unit filler in a saurus unit. Anyway, that is the idea. You do not even really need a model on there. You could easily just use a stone column or something. Hope this helps.
Yes. GW even showed some on their website before. As long as it fits the theme of the army, it should be fine. Ask at your local club to make sure though.
Yes the idea of the unit filler is to flesh out your unit and/or add some flavor and character to it! Here's a picture of my unit filler that I'm working on (thank you arli for the compliment! ^^) and here's hows he look within the unit: I hope this clarifies it for you. To get the right base size (very important) I have stuck two cavalry bases together with a sheet of plasticard on top, which I cut out to the right size. This mean that my unit filler equals 4 saurus warriors. You could also just a single cavalry base and make your avatar of war model count as 2 saurus warriors. Hope this helps! Cheers
a simpler option may be to just put him on a cavalry base, and leave the spot behind him empty. but a cool unit filler (2x2 saurus bases should do the trick) is ofc way more fun
A cavalry base is a good idea. Unit filler would look a little cooler, but that would work. Good Idea!
Only problem with a cavalry base is that if the second rank dies, you are still stuck with a base in the second rank... But should be easy enough to sort out with most opponents.
Other problem with putting a character model that is intended to be used as a character model on a unit filler base is that it will take up more than one base in the front rank. Have you tried mounting the model on a rock or something, to get it to clear it's neighbors? This is sometimes a useful solution.
If it is only his tail and he would rank on a cav base why not just make a single base 25 x 25 filler you could make it with a bug or small snake or some thing that the tail will go over like a rock formation that way if your down to a single rank you can remove it.
