Can a unit with Flaming Attacks from the Banner of Eternal Flame harm Ethereal models? My initial thought was no, since ethereal is not vulnerable to flames, but ethereal can be hit by "magical effects". Since the attacks are flaming because of a magic banner, it makes me wonder if they count as "magical".

Any thoughts?

It says flaming attacks, not flaming and magical (like the burning sword of ruin spell), to have a magical attack you either need to have a magical weapon or something that makes you'r attacks count as magical (warpstone weapons, venon of the firefly frog or a spell)

This is exactly right. I believe VC have a banner that gives them magical + flaming, but the one in the 8th ed book is flaming only.

That's what I thought, but I didn't want to overlook a potential benefit.

Thanks for the quick responses.

As a VC player before I started Lizardmen, I can say the VC banner is the banner of hellfire, is 10 points and does specify magical and flaming. Unfortunately, Banner of Eternal Flame does not...
