This is the first report I’ve done so I hope I can make this makes sense and is interesting to read. It was meeting engagement scenario vs VC, the lists can be found in the tactics section. So here we go! (EDit: It's quite long :s) EDIT2: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/meeting-engagement-vs-vc-2400pts.9902/ link to the army lists. First we rolled who get to choose how the board was divided and where to deploy. I got to choose so I cut the board so that I had a river next to me that almost went through the shorter side of the board and choose to go behind the river for cover. Then we rolled for units if they arrived. My saurus warriors, skrox and Cold one cavalry remained in reserves!!! VC had their hexwraiths, zombies, black knights and vampire lord in the reserves. I placed all my units to the corner where there was no water, so that I could cover the only opening that his bigger units could go through. He deployed all his units close to the middle line, 2 dire wolf units and ghouls in the middle with necromancer, wright king and caim wrath, the rest where put next to the river, along the long board. I deployed both of my chameleon units behind his terrorgheist. In magic, I rolled all 4 to choose spells, so I choose The comet and the curse of midnight wind for my lvl 2 skink priest and harmonic convergence on my lvl one. Vampires got two 3’s and two 4’s, and he choose nehek for both of them, and his lord took the van hellsing dance or something and the normal vampire took curse of years. Necromancer rolled 3 and 4 and took soulblight and spirit leach. He got to choose who should start and he started the first turn. First he pulled his reinforcements to the table, zombies on the other side to my units, his black knights where his vampire went in and hexwraiths and vampire lord behind my chameleons!. Terrorgheist flew next to chameleon units too. Lord didn’t move, but hexwraths moved through my chameleons and back, hitting with 4, leaving me with only stalker, who didn’t panic. In shooting, terrorgheist screamed at my other chameleon unit, and destroyed it, the lone stalker succeeded to pass the panic test again! My friend was so eager to destroy my chameleons that he jumped over magic, so after that was his magic face, didn’t get through anything. My first turn I deployed all my units on the board, saurus warriors next to my other units, Cold one Cavalry next to the saurus and skrox unit on the flank of his ghouls. I moved my bsb and slann into the saurus unit and my scar-veteran on cold one into the Coc unit. Then I flew my lvl 1 skink priest over the Cold ones closer to the skrox unit. Salamanders stayed behind the river close to the end of the river. Moved skroxs into shooting range and my stalker closer to the terrorgheist. In magic, I cast miasma on his black knights and he dispelled it, and then tried to pit of shades on it, and he used dispel scroll on it, then he let through my comet (?!??!) and used it to block his black knights and ghouls from advancing. My salamanders killed 3 wolfs on one unit and ate some skinks. Skinks threw poisoned javelins at ghouls and killed 3. Stalker didn't wound terrorgheist 2nd turn the moved hexwraiths through my stalker and killed it, ghoul unit turned to face my skroxigor unit, terrorgheist flew next to my skroxs unit, black knights stayed 8 inches away from the comet center, everything else advanced. Varghulf was coming over the river already! In magic, comet didn’t arrive, he soulblighted my skroxs unit and moved 8 inches with the hellsing spell. Terrogheist screamed at my skroxs, doing 8 wounds, 5 on kroxigors and 3 on skinks. My 2nd turn my Coc charged on the flank of ghouls and succeded, skroxs swift reformed and I move my Slann into the charge arc of varghulf. Comet did arrive this time, killing 2 units of wolfs (not the one with 2 remaining) and nothing else. I cast harmonic convergence on my Coc, and reduced 1 movement from his black knights, who has able to flank charge my Coc. Everything else was dispelled. Skroxs took out 4 wounds from terrorgheist and salamanders tried to burn his varghulf, one ate more skinks and the other didn’t reach. Close combat was a massacre! His Wight King moved next to my Coc, moving Cain wrath out of danger, but he didn’t wound any. His ghouls didn’t do any wounds either. But my scar vet did 5 wounds out of 6 and the rest did 10 wounds. I won combat resolution by 18 and melted ALL of his ghouls plus one wound on the necromancer. 3rd turn he tried to charge my Coc but failed, the reduced movement did the trick! Varghulf charged the slann. Terrorgheist moved to scream at my lvl 1 priest, everything else advanced. He killed my last kroxigor with soulblight, managed to throw nehek and heal two wounds to terrorgheist, got soulblight with irresistible and wounded cain wrath and Wright king and lost some power dice. He also cast curse of years on my Cold ones. His terrorgheist screamed my skink priest to death! In combat I managed to win by combat resolution and melt his cain wrath, necromancer and wright king to dust and reformed to charge his lone vampire lord. Because of open lists, my friend started to curse that he charged the slann, because I’d told him that my slann was ethereal. He won by one but slann stayed there. I charged his vampire lord and went through a fence, no one was wounded. The former skroxs unit that was now only skinks failed to swift reform but turned towards the terrorgheist. Salamanders run through the river (which was only normal) next the black knights flank. sauruses swift reformed to charge varghulf. I was successful in by pit of shades, irresistible though, killing 4 of his black knights. Lost one wound on miscast. Then I dispelled curse of years on Cold ones. Slamanders managed to kill two more black knights and with 20 poisoned shots I managed to wound terrorgheist to 1 wound! So close. The Vampire lord won the combat, killing 3 riders, I fled he pursued but we managed to escape. Slann didn't wound varghulf 4th turn he charged my Cold ones, but they managed to escape 11 inches, nearly out of the table, vampire lord moved 1 inch. Hexwraths moved close to my saurus unit, terrorgheist flew close to salamanders, everything else advanced. Failed to do anything specific in magic. Terrorgheist didn't wound salamanders, and a tie with varghulf. I charged my sauruses on varghulf, rallied my cold ones, moved skinks closer to his lord, salamander went to a better shooting spot. In magic, I lowered his black knights toughness by 2, varghulfs strength by 1 and killed 4 of his hexwraths with pit of shades. Salamanders killed one black knight, leaving the unit with 1 black knight and vampire. Skinks managed to get 2 wounds out of his vampire lord! Varghulf didn’t take damage in close combat, but did kill one saurus, but lost combat resolution and melted away. 5th turn he tried to charge with his vampire lord and black knights, but vampire lord failed and he didn’t know that you couldn’t charge through the river. The last hexwrath went through the slann but didn’t wound him. Terrorgheist flew over the river to scream at my salamanders again. No result. Magic was poor, he rolled two 1’s and both of us didn’t channeled more, and he failed to heal his terrorgheist. No close combat so my turn. I moved skinks even closer to the vampire lord, the slann next to his hexwrath facing towards his zombies (who were slowly advancing), terrorgheist and hexwrath. Sauruses moved towards zombies. He dispelled my pendulum spell but I managed to get through pit of shades on terrorgeist and killed it. Salamanders overshot and then ate the rest of the handlers, but passed the monster reaction. My skinks then shot 20 close range poisoned javelins at his lord, with only one wound left. 10 hit, two of them poisoned, one wounded also, resulting in three 3+ as, made all but one, but he still had his 4+ ward. He rolled his one die… 3!! The vampire lord was dead! No close combat but the vampire counts started to melt. He lost his 2 last wolves, his vampire and black knight and 8 zombies. No close combat and his last turn started, he melted his hexwrath and more zombies, he advanced his zombies, my turn I charged his zombies, didn’t cast anything and didn’t manage to slay all his zombies (because of how I had to charge because of the river). All in all I lost only 2 chameleon skink units, lvl 1 skink priest all but 2 cold ones, 1 or 2 saurus and all skink handlers. Total victory for the Old Ones!!
Yeah, I was a bit scared of how this would end. I'm glad I decided to charge the ghouls, it was amazing moment =) Also an amazing moment was when the one last ward on vampire lord was successful and it was killed Great fun
Congrats of the win and thanks for sharing! Such an exciting battle! My only criticism is that I find it easier if you either post your list at the beginning of the battle report or at the very least give a link to the thread where it is. If somebody reads this in month or two from now and wants to see your army list, it will be really difficult to find the right thread. Anyway, for your first report I think you did very good job. Hopefully you'll write more of them in the future!
Yeah, I think I'll continue to write battle reports, we have a tournament this weekend, this was the first of the pre-matches, and on Thursday I have my second, so if I got time between school work and such, so if I got time I definitely will write I'll edit the first post to include the army list
