I don't know how this would ever be useful (maybe in a just for the heck of it game?), but has anyone made a Murder Slaan? One that can actually fight? I don't really care how many points you have to sink into it, I just want to see what people come up with for their own Battle Toad.
Once I had an Ethereal Fire Slann. I basically went solo Fire Slann to avoid needing to shell out points for arcane vassals, but he ended up as an impromptu Battle Toad. He deliberately walked into a Fanatic or two then flank charged some trolls while Cascading Fire Cloak was up. I broke them from static CR alone and ran them down...with a Slann. The fire damage I did before combat meant little since they broke, but If the trolls had held their ground I would have slowly burned them to death with the Cloak. A full Battle Toad build is something along these lines. BSB, Fencer's Blades, Lore of Beasts, Higher State of Conscious, Crown of Command plus add-ons Add-ons include your favorite arcane item, your favorite magic standard, your favorite disciplines and the Firebane Gem. Once engaged with the enemy you certainly want to get Savage Beast of Horros up. Six dice it to make it hard to do dispel. If you roll a miscast, there is a better than 50/50 chance that your enemy will take more hits than you (though not necessarily more important hits if your Slann charges a weak unit). I have yet to see this tried with a Battle Toad, but I've seen something done similarly with an Orc Shaman.
I wouldnt dare risking being unstable :S Even with war banner, I find it risky. If a unit with flag carrier and 3 rank bonus kills you quickly if you dont have +3S +3A. If you have it on your slann, there is no trouble... otherwise you are dead. Sadly he cant be turned into dragon ... WS10 ethereal dragon with 4+ ward is always a nice thing to have around
But if you are unstable, dont you just take wounds for each point you loose the combat by, so you dont take a break test and so dont use the crown? Am I missing something?
Unstable does not necessarily mean Unbreakable. It just so happens that almost everything that is Unstable also has Unbreakable. Slann are the only unit that I am aware of that can lose wounds to Unstable and then break.
Ah ok, thanks for clarifying that, I never noticed that for the Slann, I suppose it's more likely to just die from the unstable rule way before it would run anyway
in my opinion, thats an auto include for a solo slann back in 7th, i run many times solo slann, when there was no unstable rule. was pretty fun, and he could turn into dragon... wasnt a problem with being loremaster of beast
