Hey guys, thought I'd post my list here and see what you had to say. I'm new to Fantasy, so it might be kinda blah, sorry! I'm playing in a relatively non-competitive environment as well - pretty much with my small circle of friends in the hobby and the occasional battle at my local Games Workshop. Any tips, tricks, criticisms, etc. would be great though, as I'd still of course like to run an effective force. Thanks! 1 Skink Priest (Lore of Beasts) -Level 2 Wizard -Dispel Scroll 12 Skinks (Bunker) 20 Saurus Warriors -Full Command 20 Saurus Warriors -Full Command Oxyotl 5 Chameleon Skinks 5 Chameleon Skinks 5 Chameleon Skinks
I agree Oxy probably isn't worth it but Chamos are really good units. At 1000 points your opponent wont be able to spread out enough so they will be able to deploy on his flanks and wreck havoc. They can constantly strafe big blocks as they try to reform/charge or they will get ignored and you can go straight for monsters/cannons/heroes.
3 camo skinks units... This is not a beginner list. You need more meat in your army. Lizardmen is a very forgiving army. If you make a mistake, you can recover; howver, with the list composition you have going, you do not have a very forgiving list at all. If you deploy your camo skinks improperly, or if your opponent has lots of magic missles at their disposal, your camo skinks won't last long. Even fast cav is a huge threat for cammo skinks.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the help! Chameleon Skinks are indeed squishy and will definitely require some expert maneuvering. I think a heavy scouting force could prove incredibly effective at this points level though, even if it does make my army a lot more risky. Should be a good learning experience for a newbie like me! As for Oxyotl, the consensus seems to be that named characters are generally not worth it, however I am a pretty casual player and just thought he'd be fun to try out, plus he obviously works well with my Chameleon Skinks. Who knows, maybe he'll be able to snipe down a low-grade hero or something on occasion?
