This is my idea so far Lords -Slann Mage Priest 425 points ---four disciplines of the ancients Heroes -Level 2 Skink Priest 390 points ---Engine of the gods -Scar-Vet 110 points ---Bsb Core -25 saurus warriors 305 points ---Full command -25 saurus warriors 305 points ---Full command Special -20 Temple Guard 355 points ---full command Rare -Razordon ---extra handler 80 points TOTAL: 1970 What do you think?
You should probably give some equipment to your BSB. By default, he only comes with a hand weapon and his 5+ scaly skin... even in a unit of Saurus he probably won't live long. Since you have an extra 30 points, you should think about making your Slann the BSB and throwing some magic items on your Scar Vet. A Ward Save is always nice, the Dawnstone is a fan favorite, too. Also, take a look at the lizardman-only Venom of the Firefly Frog (and consider the pros and cons of the mundane halberd and great weapon). If you're not planning on running the Scar Vet in one of your blocks of Saurus, then I would look into putting him on a Cold One. Another place you could use those 30 points would be on a Dispel Scroll (they are very useful. Either your Slann or Priest could carry it). I would even recommend dropping the 2nd Priest level for the scroll. With a Slann (likely a Loremaster Slann) you won't usually find the power dice to spend on your priest's spells, and you won't usually be using the priest to dispel, so the 2nd level will rarely come into play.
I would drop the LV2 upgrade and take a dispel scroll on the skink priest. BSB on the slann for sure. Though, contrary to above, I would never take poison on a saurus character due to the fact that they are strength 5 and wounding most things on 2's anyway. I'd rather give it to a skink chief for blowpipe re-rolls.
Ok let's see what I can tell you here Ok I think you are going for a bit of overkill taking 4 disciplines of the ancients. You'd be better off just taking Focused Ruminations and the one that makes your Slann a Loremaster and ignore the others. Take those points and either invest in Cupped Hands of the Old Ones (to prevent your Temple guard from blowing up during a miscast), Cube of Darkness (Super dispel scroll that can end the magic phase), or a Power Stone. Also I can't stress enough that you need something to take care of your miscasts so your temple guard don't die. If you aren't taking Cupped Hands of the Old Ones, consider running the Slann as a Lore of Life Slann. What you could really use is something to keep your BSB Alive. I'd suggest the Armor of Destiny for him. Hmm out of curiosity, are you planning on running them with Spears or Handweapon and Shield? Don't forget that the champion on the Temple Guard can take an item. This unit is going to get targeted by artillery so consider giving him the iron curse tiem. Also consider putting the Razor Standard on the Temple guard to give them more killing power. Rare -Razordon ---extra handler 80 points TOTAL: 1970 What do you think? [/quote]
