Tomorrow I`m thinking of buying the Battalion box set and the materials to assemble. Would this be the best way to start off? I already have the army book, and rule book.

Either go like Jaspar said and get a character blister, or get a Stegadon. If you get some magnets, you can field any of the Stegadon variants, so you can begin finding out what you like and what you don't.

Well today I had ordered a battalion box set, and Chakax. Then purchased some paint, glue, The Vulnerable Lord Kroak, Kroq-Gar, Skink Priest, Old Blood on foot, Lord on Cold One, box set of Temple guard, Three Kroxigors. Next up is the Stegadon, Two Suarus Warrior box sets, a box set of Skinks. Then I can no longer spend any money on warhammer for some time for I have spent a lot already. Painting started today of Kroq-Gar. :jimlad: Fuck yea

You cant go wrong with an army centered around a Slann and A juicy unit of 15+ Temple guard. If you're new to lizards, big blocks of saurus also prove to be pretty resilient and easy to add up points wise. A block of 20 HW+ Shields with FC come out to 250. Salamanders are a must, terradons are excellent. Kroxigors on their own leave much to be desired, the static combat res they gain from the skinks/koxigor unit is priceless.

My attention right now is focused on painting. Once all of these models are painted I`ll be able to move forward with the construction of an awesome army with endless possibilities. Next up will be the razordons, salamanders, and possibly more skinks and a stegadon.

I like it, discipline. Good good, most of us overenthusiastic gamers buy too much and paint too little! I love lizardmen because collectively, it is just the same race throughout the fluff and models. For instance, with Elves, Dwarfs, Empire, etc. it is one race is different forms. With lizardmen, you have Skinks and their role, Saurus, Kroxigors, Terradons, Slann, Salamanders all having a part to play and they arent the same "race" in different armour, riding a horse, manning a war machine... Lots of variety.

    Juicy...

    You nailed it perfectly :p

I should have some pictures up later tonight. I`m almost done painting my skinks. I`m stuck on my stegadon, because I`m not sure if I like it or not. I`m also having like a writers block kind of issue with the rest of the army when it comes down to color scheme. I have 40 Temple guard now as well. 20 for Lord Kroak painted as aged warriors( supposed to be as old as Kroak himself), and 20 painted as regular saurus in their armor for the Slann unit.

I love skinks. I have over 150 saurus but only about 40 skinks. I would like to run a "Southlands Army" with Skinks, Krox and Sallies. I think it is kinda sad that skinks have such a crappy toughness though. But hey, they are cheap with cool big buddies to smash juicy targets.
