Hi Gamers, I fought a 1500 Empire army last night....which included a steam tank........wow. I didn't know much about it and moved a unit of 8 cold one cavalry within 15" and was then helpless as it destroyed the unit on one charge. Knowing i was facing an Empire army I chose to take LoMetal with my Slaan with Focused Rumionation and Focus of Mystery. I then tried turning the tank gold rolled 5 dice and miscast on the first turn and lost 3 levels and then miscast using 4 dice to cast the signature spell and.................you guessed it, miscast losing my remaining level..... So, my question is how do my scaly friends take out a steam tank? Was I on the right track?
Feed it crap and ignore it. They are T10, W10, and can be lifed back up to full wounds. You will get more VPs for the same amount of effort elsewhere.
Purple Sun is your best bet now that the Stank is no longer immune to most spells (Unless GW re-FAQ'd the FAQ that made this possible).
I've never come across a Stank in 8th so I'm not sure how much things have changed, but could the Blade of Realities still work (taking into consideration BSB's allowing re-rolls to all leadership tests)?
i think this has already been covered really, but there are 2 options as i see it, either ignore it or magic it. if you are set on hitting it with something, bear in mind that as it is T10, anything from S1-8 will need 6s. The BoR will still work, but as you mentioned it gets a re-roll if it's within BSB range, so either get it out of BSB range/kill the BSB if you want to try this. I would probably stick with Gojira's analysis. For how few points you get even if you manage to blow the stupid thing up, you're better off keeping it away from your stuff and concentrate on killing the rest of his army.
As a Empire player(as well as LM) the lore of metal makes me most scared. The signature spell is probably best. Also really good against knights. Casting the singature spell(10+) should be easy, 4(slann lvl) + 1-2 dice + free dice(Focused Rumination) And the upgrade is even better. Double 1's aren't a mistcast anymore in 8th, so if you did miscast those spells you should have IF them too, almost killing the Stank. Samuel
