Note: Read the title again, it's not 'or', it's 'and'.

    Oy!

Now that since you apparently can't have blowpipes on skink cohorts but can have javelins on skirmishers I was wondering...

Can you put blowpipes on the skinks to be able to change between regular and skirmishing skinks?
This may sound a bit odd but if I get a 'yes' I can assure you that I know what I'm doing...

So, If I give my cohorts/skirmishers both weapons, can I switch between the different skink units or will I get banned from tournies and the like because I've modelled blowpipes on them?
I'm well aware I can't actually use both weapons at the same time(see book, it says 'Exchange') so it's not like I'm trying to cheat. I just think it'd look cool. ^^ (and save my wallet from starvation)

    Quick answers are appreciated.

    Cheers!

Honestly, im our Gaming Group, i think you'd be allowed, i personally, think its a really good idea and was thinking of doing it myself.....
I have no idea what would happen if you tried to go to a tournament like that, i havn't been in a tournament yet....

Also, a quick sprue question, hav you noticed there's a lack of blowpipes on the sprues? I can't seem to find 24.

They are different units with different rules so no, I'd 100% say that they can't.

Hmmm its an interesting idea, and I do see what you are trying to do. I think the hardest part would be when you wanted them as skirmishers, how are you going to make sure your opponent knows clearly what they are equipped with? That would be the main problem.

Again, my gaming group would be fine with it, I don't know about tournies if you are interested in them.

@kroxigorsFTW, too right. The skink sprue is dodgy. You will notice that there actually isn't enough blowpipes or javelins to equip 24 exactly alike. GW want you to equip 12 1 way, and 12 the other. Or convert. There are also basically no empty hands, so to put shields on you need to use the little hand weapon arms and clip the weapons off. It is a really badly designed sprue, but given we get 24 models out of it I guess we can't complain that much.

The same can be said for getting an extra blowpipe or two. If you're into cutting a javelin up, I've got a couple of blowpipes that look suspiciously like javs with the tips cut off.

Same do you guys find that the jav's and blowpipes break allot? its almost like the plastic is to fine or something.

Yes, I have had blowpipes break on me before and it's always dissappointing to see a model you've spent time finishing snap into pieces. I don't have too many problems because I am carefull with my models and make sure that they're stored correctly. I frequently see people tossing their models around when they're killed on the table and wonder why they spent so much time on them just to do that.

In all honesty, I've been surprised with the flexibility of the models. Plastics especially seem to bend a bit and resist breaking.

I'm on a 'mixed weapon' kick, so just two of mine got javelins in each unit of 12. since 10 have blowpipes, pretty easy to tell what they have. also made 'knives' from the javelin tips that look a lot better than those strange little mace things. and clipped the hand weapons from the one guy with a shield.

though used one or two hand weapons normally.

pondering mixed weapons in my Saurus... (like, 1/6 have the other type of weapon)

There's not even enough arms!? :jawdrop:

Hooza! That's something new... And I even clipped off some javelins ant pipes for putting shields on... :jawdrop:

    This'll be tricky... Darn!

    Cheers!

Not too tricky, i just thought, what if the blowpipes got (oh, i just realised ou need to arm swap for this, but other then what, it works... i think,) stabbie bits on the end, then they can double as blowpipe and hand weapon.

Ok, maybe it is tricky.... but atleast you've got an idea now (plue the one you had.)
