7th Ed. Blowpipes

    Hello, i expect that these are questions with very simple answers, but im simply not sure, so here goes. How should a skink unit with blowpipes be treated? Are they able to move and shoot, what penalties do blowpipes suffer, for example, +1 to hit due to range, movement etc. I want to know how they work because im green and obviously the more experienced people ive played with dont actually use blowpipes, concidering their army choices ;) so it is a bit unsure as is.

    the blowpipes works just anyother shooting weapon, and get a -1 for move&shoot, multiple shoots and skirmishers, and they get a +1 to hit for large targets, and they are poisoned, and does an auto-wound when you hit n 6's. ;)

    Alright, thanks :) do they suffer from shooting at targets outside half range? Just wondering due to their short range, (i believe) they would in many cases not be able to poison skirmishers for example.

    yes they do, and yes you can't poison skirmisher if you've moved, but that shouldn't be a problem, since you always got javelins whit only 4" difference in range, and you can move&shoot and they don't get ny penalties except for skirmishers. ;)

    Blowpipes is treatet just like any other missile weapon. strenght 3 range 12" and option for 2x multiple shots.
    Both Blowpipes and javelins counts as poisoned attacks but does not auto wound if it requiers a 7 or more to hit.
    Javelins has strenght equal to the one who throwes it, range 8" and as all throwing weapons does not suffer from move and shoot and from shooting at long range.
    (BRB pp 55, 57, 28 and Armybook pp. 23, 26)

    Thank you both, i dont have the rulebook yet but everything i was wondering about has been answered. I couldnt find this question anywhere else on any other forum/blogg etc. (I might suck at google, who knows) So i thought that this has got to be the perfect place to ask, even though to you, it may seem like a silly question ;)

    For your interest, ive realised that i dont have any noticeable luck with dices, and from my experience thus far (and your answers) it seems like im going to go with javeline skinks for the most part. Thanks again.

    good news for you and bad for them dice gods, skinks are gonna be javelin/shield from the begining so it will be cheaper to have the "secure" weps on them, and you can have kroxis. :)
    but there rank&file tho.

    Indeed, although.. i dont think i will use basic skinks in ranks unless i have kroxigors (i dont, yet) wich will at first be a bit slow since they will cost 2 points more than they do now with skirmish if im not mistaken, should be turning sweet in the end though.

    Thus far.. my skinks have failed me due to those so called dicegods, but my saurus cavalry (for some reason) have surprised me a bit. Lost to brettonia due to their militia outnumbering me and bad rolls in a 250pts scenario and won against WoC, with only three skinks lost in the same scenario.

    This scenario gives me a shot at learning before i get into bigger fights, and thus far, i believe ive done fairly well atleast.

    Anyways, thanks again, i hope i might be able to contribute with some battle reports in the future if i get to the point when i can say that i believe my fights to be interesting ;)

    Mostly I goes with javelins myself, but I alos almost always fight Chaos.. Anyway, Good luck :)

    I love seeing a unit of something dissappear due to javelins/poison darts and will continue to use skinks, even into 7th. I'd have to say I am a little dissapointed to see skinks ranking up again. I've always been partial to ranked sarus.

    You can pay to make them skirmish I believe

    Actually not quite, youve got the general idea down but they are a separate unit type called "skink skirmishers". They cant for example have musicians or kroxigors i believe, so they are separated.

    They are, the Skink Skirmishers unit are 2 points more expensive and start with Blowpipes, or add another point to recieve javelins and shields.

    I think the best way is to use them in this way. a skink unit of Skirmisher with blowpipe in cover. save the points and use a unit of skink rank unit with kigros. i bad dice throwing but numbers play big part in win if i unit of 10 shotting a enemy and i have not move, i have 20 shots aim to them. i have bunch of 6(more five), but i have cover and so when they charge i run let hell. the cover will slow them down go other side, rally in your turn. move a unit Srus. behind the skink unit. the enemy unit take two turns for infantry or one for cavalry. if u get two turns shoot them. they will charge stand and shoot, kill as them as u can than die. when they overrun. you have big mean unit waiting to kill them. hahhahaha!!! die you lesser race!!!
