So the new book of Hoeth allows the elf player to re-roll a dice when spellcasting as long as the roll wasnt a 6.

Becalming Cogitation negates any 6's.

So if an elf wizard with the book rolls a six can it be re-rolled because the six was negated or can it not be re-rolled because it was a six, then it gets negated?

I dont have a high elf book nearby so I cant check the exact syntax on the book.

Unless an FAQ says otherwise my answer would be "No."

I'm guessing that Becalming Cognition will not be the same in the updated LM book, so it's a wrinkle that will be smoothed over soon. Enjoy it while it lasts!

A six is stil a six even if it's negated.
(As far as I know) :D

I would agree with NO.
I'm a HE player as well, and Book of Hoeth allows you to reroll as you described. Cogitation makes any sixes rolled to not count toward their casting value is all. So if they use the book and reroll a 1 into a 6, then they've lost 1.

I also agree, also to add to this, if the HE player rolls a 6 which is then negated, they then decide to re roll another dice and it then rolls a 6 that die would also then be negated.

Thats how I would read it.
