A couple of weeks ago, several of my friends in the area that play Warhammer all decided to start a campaign in the Border Princes area. While gearing up for it, we thought it would be a cool idea to record the games and post them for everyone to see. Haven't really seen that done yet for a campaign (at least I haven't). In addition, we are posting our turns moving our banners across the map. In addition, we came up with a name for a group - Bromance WarGaming and created a youtube channel with that name for the battle reports. Here is the link for you guys to take a look at. Currently, as of June 18th, we've just finished up campaign turn 6. Our turn 7 will take place this Wednesday. Bromance WarGaming consists of Matt (playing Dark Elves), Jody (High Elves), Chris (Ogres), and me (Dallas - playing Lizardmen). Besides Matt, we are all very new to Warhammer (5 months and under). Take a look at the batreps and give me any critiques or opinions on my strategies. I'm always looking for ways to play better and don't want to bring shame to the Old Ones . In addition, let me know your thoughts on our battle reports. We also want to get better with those as well. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7RSpvz9lF_hG8eY3np4ngw
Watching Bromance WarGaming - Lizardmen vs. Dark Elves Siege Battle - LOL @ lizards turn 1. It always seems to happen this way. Not sure if the DE player can really claim completing his plot... the miscasts seem to do most of the work I think you "missed" a turn. It jumps from turn 2 - lizards to turn 3 dark elves, but it looks like maybe you just forgot which turn you were on? I like the turn by turn summaries. Much easier to understand than phase by phase. meanwhile, paint is always good. Tactics critique: I have no idea what you were trying to do with those cold one cav. Did they fail stupidity at some point? Skinks are good harassers, but don't expect pot-shots to actually kill models. Just let them distract units from more important targets.
Lol, but Charmander can't seem to get a shot straight! Good report btw. It's funny how a whole game can hinge on one dice throw...(i.e. saurus charge into corsairs missed by one) Thanks!
Hello Dallas! This is the same Lord Cedric that posted under your (well.. Matt's) similar heading at WarSeer. Just wanted to let you know that I have been watching and trying to keep up-to-date on the Campaign progress, but have yet to view your Turn 6 battle (I did watch Jody and Matt's though) but will watch it soon. Not sure if you have read the WarSeer's thread, but the Border Princes campaign is the same one that I am wanting to do with my club in the near future - so watching it unfold is really great as I am getting some ideas on how to run it. I have enjoyed your battle reporting - which is similar to what we do in our club albiet video record it, in that we talk about tactics and what went right and what didn't and our overall thoughts on the game. Personally, I think it helps to increase Generalship in that there are many times that an opponent will see things that I didn't (and vice a versa) and we learn from it. Keep up the good work and I'll give my viewpoint on your Turn 6 soon. :-D Oh.. and good luck! - Lord Cedric
We have had a streak of miscasts in our games recently. Until the DE vs HE game that was put up over the weekend, we were like 80% miscasts. Mine often times on 2 or 3 dice. Just the way the winds of magic work sometimes I suppose. Yep, we missed a turn in there The game was to go to 6 turns and we "added" a turn as it was looking like there was no way to possibly win as the attacker in that many turns. So it still ended up 6 turns and we believe that will be enough at the moment. The next time we have a siege game we will go over some additional rules we have added. I also have no idea what I was doing with the cold one. I really should have just sent them in at the start to soften up one of the walls. But kept thinking I'd get more use out of hitting one wall with my salamanders. So I just ended up doing nothing with the cold ones and it was useless. If I had it to do over again I would have charged the side wall with the cold ones and moved my salamanders to hit the gate wall. It ended up being a huge waste of points on my part that could have done something. Hi Cedric - I've been keeping an eye on the thread over at Warseer and glad to see people are enjoying it. I think your group will really enjoy the campaign. I certainly am. My background is in rpgs and this adds a different element to the game that I enjoy. I'm planning on each of my banners to be a different type of list. Which will be fun and keep the games fresh. In addition it lets me learn the tactics of the different army lists. I completely agree about the batreps. It has helped me a ton in seeing the game. Even in the middle of the game it gives me a moment to look over the field and assess the situation.
Just an FYI - our youtube channel has been updated a few days ago with a siege battle between my lizardmen versus dark elves. Afterwards, I saw plenty that I didn't do really well. Partly, should have had the steg angled to run through the gate once down and hit whomever was inside really hard. I'm still getting a feel for the siege battle rules we are using and what works best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6wCcHryfXM&feature=plcp I am looking to have a couple of games in tomorrow that we should be recording so I should have them up for y'all to watch in a few days.
