Can someone give me some ideas on what is best to take vs bretonnians at 1500 pts as he is one of my regular opponents and his 1st turn charge and high armour pretty much negates my 1 salamander and skink skirmishers so only my temple guard, cold ones and saurus get any use so can i have some ideas and then he still has his armour which he passes most of even with modifiers so please can you help me.
How is he charging you on the first turn? I mean some of those set-ups are close, but just deploy back a aways and he won't be able to charge you. Remember his charge range is only 20" (8" +3d6" drop lowest). That being said, one thing to remember is that Brets are probably going to get the charge anyway. It look me a long time and a lot of practice in order to get really good at beating that army. The key is to jam up their lances. Most bretonian players I know put all their lances pretty close together, in order to multi-charge units and break them. So what do I do? I throw something expendable right in front of them, and angle it in a way that makes their pretty lances go in all different directions. If they don't want to charge and try and shuffle around the target, that's fine. This gives my flankers one more turn to set up good charge lances with counter-charging flankers. Sorry if this doesn't help, I don't have time to make a drawing to show you right now. I'll have to make one and post it.
