I'm looking for a brown colored primer or at the very worst satin spray paint that is available in the US. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Reaper MSP "Brown Liner" as a brush-on primer. Painters on Reaper's Forum swear by it.

(Is this for metal or plastic or resin?)

Rustoleum Ultra Flat Earth Brown Camouflage

Available ^ at Amazon, Lowes, or Home Depot for sure; and probably at: Walmart, ACE Hardware, Menards, or FleetFarm.

That Earth Brown is only distinguishable from black in bright sunlight. And it is the flattest flat paint you'd ever want.

This would be for resin, and I don't want to brush on.

I have tried both GW's paint and army painter and must say I prefer GW. It's much smoother but army painter's can add some fine texture whit the light grainyness.

you can always use the mourfang brown spray. They advertise it as being both primer and basecoat, but I haven't tried it on actual grey models

It's something like 17 usd per can at my local store. I'm trying to find a low cost alternative like regular hardware store spray paint

Then the Rustoleum Earth Brown Camo fits the bill.

The link goes to an Amazon listing where you get SIX cans, assorted colors, for just $22usd. Opposed to $17usd for ONE can of that mournfang stuff.

A single can of the Rustoleum will be $7~8usd. It is available all over* (unless FL has some funky laws about rattlecans) and it is as flat as (or flatter than) auto-primer. I have used the Rustoleum on white metals and styrene plastics.

*At least Lowes or Home Depot...
