7th Ed. Campaign Battles: Round 1

    Long time no see everyone. I have here a battle report for a campaign yesterday, we meet once a week, and I had missed the first week so I had work to do. My first battle was against a HE player who beat me the last time we faced off.

    His List:

    Archmage with the Annulian Crystal (steals a power di and converts it to Dispel Di) and some ward save.

    Dragon Mage (Don't remember what items, I think Scrolls)

    10 Spearmen

    10 Spearmen

    A full unit of 20 Pheonix Guard with a BSB with the Banner of Sorcery (+D3 Power dice)

    5 Dragon Princes with Banner of Ellyrion (all terrain counts as open)

    2 RBT's

    1 Great Eagle

    5 Ellyrion Reavers

    Lion Chariot

    Magic: His Archmage took Fury of Khaine, Vaul's Unmaking, Shield of Saphery, and Curse of Arrow Attraction

    Dragon Mage: Flaming Sword of Rhuin and Fiery Blast

    Engine: Forked Lightening

    There were two woods, one on the left and right side about 12" from the center and two hills in the center of both deployment zones.

    Deployment: Left to Right

    HE: Dragon Mage slightly to the left of the left Forest, DP's straight behind it, 2 Bolt Throwers on the hill, the Pheonix Guard in front of them with Spearmen on both sides, Great Eagle and Ellyrion Reavers on far right directly behind woods. Chariot in between right Spearmen and Pheonix Guard.

    Archmage and BSB joined Pheonix Guard.

    Lizardmen: The larger Salamanders on the far left, directly in front of the woods, then a unit of Skinks lined up and then my Engine next to them. The Cold One's directly across from the Pheonix Guard with the Carnosaur Lord and BSB. The remaining Skinks deployed to the right, one across from the furthest right RBT, the other deployed across from the Great Eagle. My Terradons across from the Great Eagle as well.

    My Chameleons deployed one unit in each forest.

    Ben goes first.

    Turn 1: The Dragon Mage advances right next to the Chameleons, the Dragon Princes move into the wood. His Spearmen, Pheonix Guard, and Chariot advance about 8" and stop, his Eagle flies over the wood next to my army and the Ellyrion Reavers run around the wood in sight for a possible charge next turn.

    Magic: Dragon Mage He wounds a Salamander on the left side with an unlucky Firey Blast and casts Flaming Sword of Rhuin on himself.

    Archmage: Casts Curse of Arrow Attraction which goes off, others stopped or fail.

    Shooting: Both RBT's fire at the Engine and kill one crew member.

    Lizardmen:

    I advance my Chameleons infront of his Dragon Mage, my others surrond the Ellyrion Reavers. My Salamanders on the left creep towards his Spearmen and my Salamanders on the right aim for his Reavers. My Cold One Riders fail their Stupidity and stumble 3 1/2 inches. My skinks advance forward slighty. My Engine hovers next to COR. My Terradons fly into the woods on the right.

    Magic: Nothing. 5+ Ward save power activated.

    Shooting: The Chameleons kill the Dragon Mage and put 2 Wounds on the Dragon, whom becomes Stupid thanks to Monster Reaction chart. The Ellyion Reavers are burnt to ashes by Salamanders with the help of Chameleons and the regular Skinks impale the Great Eagle. Other Salamanders shoot the Spearmen on my left, which kills one but they pass Panic.

    Turn 2: HE's

    Movement: His Pheonix Guard hold their ground and his Archmage jumps to the wounded Spearmen while his Spearmen on the right begin to march for my two units of Skinks. His Sun Dragon Charges my Salamanders, who stand bravely. His Chariot angles for a possible flank charge.

    Magic: Archmage casts Fury of Khaine on the Cold One Riders, only to watch in horror as my Shield on the Scar Veteran sends it right back, killing 5 Spearmen. Passes Panic, Diadem stops additional magic.

    Shooting: RBT's fire on my Stegadon and bring it down, but the Priest survives.

    Combat: The Sun Dragons nearly kills one Salamander then cries out as the 3 team the beast and drag it to it's fiery grave.

    Lizardmen: The Cold One Cavlary pass their Stupidity and move towards the Pheonix Guard, preparing for the game deciding match. The Terradons fly over the Chariot so I may Drop Rocks, both Chameleons run for the RBT's while the Salamanders advance to burn the Spearmen. All skinks advance on the Spearmen. The Priest runs for the hill in my deployment zone.

    Drop rocks crushes the Chariot.

    Magic: Nothing

    Shooting: The Terradons skewer a RBT crew, the Spearmen with the Archmage are Paniced by Salamander Fire and flee.

    Turn 3: HE's

    Movement: The Dragon Princes charge my Salamanders out of the wood, who stand. The Spearmen on the right charge the Skinks in front of them and loose 2 men on the move.

    Archmage rallies.

    Magic: My Scroll stops a Vaul's Unmaking and the skink unit on the left is obliterated by Khaine's Fury.

    Shooting: The Terradons loose 1 of their fellows, but don't require a Panic check.

    Combat: The Dragon Princes overwhelm the Salamanders and pursue them, catching the poor lizards and running into the far left corner away from my men.

    The Spearmen take 1 wound and win combat rez, catching the Skinks but land in front of my last unit of Skinks.

    Lizardmen:

    Movement: The Cold One Riders charge the Pheonix Guard for epic battle while my remaining Skinks flank charge the Spearmen. My last Salamander unit hides in the wood. My Terradons charge the remaining RBT crew. Chameleons advance towards Terradons.

    Magic: None.

    Shooting: None

    Combat: The Skink pass their 5+ armor save against the Spearmen and kill 2, winning combat rez and breaking the unit.

    The Carnosaur Lord declared a bellowing roar, the Pheonix Guard champion meeting his call. The Champion failed to wound the great lord but magically avoided the Carnosaur's bite, only to be svagely cut down by the Saurus Lord himself.

    The Pheonix Guard kill one Rider, and the Riders in turn drop 2 additional Pheonix Guard.

    Due to Overkill, my men win by 2 overall and the Pheonix Guard, even with their BSB, fail their Break Test and are run down by the Saurus.



    My Opponent Surrenders, giving me a Massacre.

    This victory allowed me to advance 3 spaces, putting me from dead last to 2nd overall, only one victory away from capturing the objective.

    Nice game and battle report :) , but you shouldn't be able to have magical items on your Saurus BSB. Did you agree on that beforhand?

    A BSB can have magical items if he is not carrying a magic banner.

    Yeah, my bad! when reading like 30 post in a row, you get kind of drowsy and mix up what you read previously...
