Ok, so this fight I had against a man named Blake who smoked me at the Team Tournament and won 1st place at a big tournament down in Fort Worth, so I was intimidated. Thinking he was bringing a cheesy Star Dragon list, I prepared a cheesy Stegadon list to thwart his efforts. However, it was instead an apparently balanced list that wouldn't play for a great game.

His List: Archmage that generated 5 dice and chooses spells

Mage that steals a power di and makes into dispel di

Mage that has Ring of Fury

    Two full units of Spearmen

Nine Dragon Princes with some Noble

    3 Repeater Bolt Throwers

    One full Phoenix Guard unit

    5 Silver Helms

    My List:

Slann- BSB, Focus of Mystery, The Focused Rumination, Transcedent Healing, Higher State of Consciousness, Cupped Hands of the Old Ones, Divine Plaque of Protection, War Banner= 550

Skink Priest- Engine of the Gods, Amulet of Itzl, Plaque of Tepok= 435

Skink Chief- Stegadon, Glyph Necklace= 320

    Terradons- x5= 150

    Stegadon= 235

    Ancient Stegadon= 275

    Skinks- x10= 50
    Skinks- x10= 50
    Skinks- x10= 50

    Chameleons- x5, Stalker= 66

    Chameleons- x5, Stalker= 66

Terrain: One forest on the east and west sides, one hill in the center of the deployment zones, corners were all hills (defender gets to choose terrain so I was a little annoyed by the hills)

    Deployment:

High Elves: One RBT on each hill. Both spearmen units received a mage on both sides of the center hill, Pheonix Guard behind center hill w/ Archmage, Dragon Princes to my right of the Spearmen deployed on the right side of the center hill. Silver Helms on far left in front of RBT.

Lizardmen: Skinks in front of lone Slann on the center hill, all four stegadons with a skink unit in front and one behind to the right of center hill. Terradons behind forest on the right side, chameleons all in that forest.

I managed to roll higher in turn roll, so I chose to go first.

Magic: Archmage takes Lore of Beast with 3, 4, 5, and 6. Regualr mages take High, 1 and 4; 1 and 6

Lizards: Slann takes Lore of Beasts, Priest gets 1, 2, 4

    Turn 1: Lizards

    Movement:

I moved my Terradons in the forest, and advanced the rest of my army their maximum movement towards his center force, minus the chameleons.

    Magic: Engine activates 5+ Ward.

I manage to kill a Silver Helm with Hunter's Spear and Beast's Cowers the DP's.

    Shooting: None yet!

    Turn 1: High Elves

Movement: Silver Helms move for my Slann.

Magic: A sheild of Saphery goes off on the Silver helms, Hunter's Spear puts a wound on the Engine, Beast's Cowers hits Engine. Stopped Ring.

Shooting: Left RBT kills 4 skinks from the unit by the Slann.

    Turn 2: Lizards

Movement: Stegadons turn to aim at the DP's, my Ancient Stegadon starts for the Spearmen unit to the left, Terradons fly in front of center RBT, Chameleons advance towards the far right corner, which holds RBT, Slann moves for Silver Helms and the skinks by him move away from the riders.

Magic: Hunter's Spear a few Spearmen, get 1 re-roll from Second Sign. 5+ Ward on Engine.

    Shooting: The Giant Bow's kill 2 DP's.

    Turn 2: High Elves

DP's charge Chameleons. Silver helms move closer to Slann and Spearmen on the left advance a little.

Magic: Shield of Shapery went off on the Spearmen and Beast's Cowers AGAIN. He forgets Ring, but I rolled anyway and would've dispeled it.

Shooting: Nothing this time (Engine save rules! lol)

Combat: DP's rape, overrun a pitiful 3 inches and don't reach my other chameleons.

    Turn 3: Lizards

Movement: Terradons charge RBT in center, Ancient Stegadon advances on the left spearmen, regular Stegadons move towards the DP's. Chameleons on the right move towards the RBT. All other Skinks move towards the Spearmen on the right of the hill.

Magic: 5+ Ward for Engine again. Second Sign gives me 3 re-rolls, Hunter's Spear a few more Spearmen.

Shooting: Giant Blowpipes kill 1 Spearmen, Giant Bows kill 3 Dragon Princes with a great flank shot. Chameleons kill 1 RBT crewman. Skinks manage to kill 5 Spearmen on the right unit, which panics off the board.

Combat: 1 Terradon drops and the crew die.

    Turn 3: High Elves

Movement: DP's Charge the Chameleons, flee and get out of range. Silver helms charge skinks next to slann.

Magic: Archmage miscasts and take a wound, kills 1 Pheonix Guard as well, Beast's Cowers was what did it.

Shooting: Nothing (going to skip b/c RBT's couldn't get to me, even when 2 single bolts hit and wound the Priest, he saved both)

Combat: The Silver Helms kill a few Skinks and 1 dies, Skinks hold woth Insane Courage.

    Turn 4: Lizardmen

Chameleons rally, Stegadons advance towards DP's. Ancient Stegadon moves a little towards Spearmen, Terradons fly over Spearmen and into the forest, but can see other RBT on the left corner. Slann turns to face Silver Helms. Engine runs towards the Pheonix Guard.

Magic: Nothing of importance, Engine uses 5+ Ward.

Shooting: Drop 2 more DP's. Spearmen (although this happened earlier) are brought down to half with a combo of Drop Rocks, Giant Blowpipes, and Javelins and narrowly pass their Panic test.

Combat: Silver Helms kill a few more Skinks, but the Skinks refuse to budge.

    Turn 4: High Elves

    Movement: DP's charge Chameleons.

Magic: Beast's Cowers and a Shield of Saphery on Spearmen.

Shooting: Kills a Terradon, they pass Panic.

Combat: Silver Helms finish off Skinks. DP's kill Chameleons and overrun off table.

    Turn 5: Lizards

Movement: The Stegadons advance again towards where the DP's will respawn with a unit of skinks. The skinks in the center procede to start hurling javelins at the Pheonix Guard. Terradons charge RBT crew.

Magic: The remaining Silver Helms are wipped out.

Shooting: The last crewman on the far right RBT is killed by a great Giant Bow shot, 1 Spearman dies from Giant Blowpipes. Pheonix Guard do not take any damage rest of the game.

Combat: Terradons kill the final RBT crew and do nothing rest of the game.

    Turn 5: High Elves

Movement: DP's return and face my Stegadons.

Nothing else happened other than Beast's Cowers my Engine again.

    Turn 6: Lizards

Movement: Stegadons aim for final volley. Ancient prepares for final volley.

    Magic: 2 re-rolls, Beast's Cowers DP's.

Shooting: Bring the DP's down to 2 regular and 1 Noble.

    Turn 6: High Elves

    Chooses not to try anything.

    And winner is......

    LIZARDMEN!

I won with a Solid Victory, though I was pleased to take the main objective and beat probably the greatest general at our GW store, it was bittersweet knowing I had used a cheesy list against a balanced list, but seeing as I was supposed to fight a cheesy Star Dragon list, but Blake changed his list, made me feel a little better.

So I'm currently in 1st place, and next week is the final battle with a FFA with the 3 top people, High Elves (my opponent will be forced to use this list), an Empire guy who has formed an alliance against me, and myself. Since I own the castle, I get magical extra powers. I'll be forced to take this list as well.

To reassure I wouldn't be cheated out of a fair fight, the manager declared the Alliance will not be taking place unless my opponents want their poor armies to be smacked with terrible Famines and Storms along with giant feral Dragons attacking them, so if they want a 2v2, I'll have an omnipotent force on my side, lol.

So any comments and hints how to fight my upcoming fight would be great! All I know about the Empire fellow is he likes shooty armies, has a freaking Steam Tank, and 1 Cannon, not to mention 1 Hellblaster, and has a history of liking lots of shooty things or lots of knights. Not to mention his dice are good and he's no novice.

Hope you enjoyed, I'll let ya'll know how the final battle goes! Next Tuesday!
