8th Ed. Capture the Relic Pt I

    Scenario: Assaulting force is trying to capture a relic within a town. Part I is assaulting up to the wall of the town.
    Victory Condition: Most units alive
    Reward: Gate to city open or closed
    Forces: Combined DE and LM forces (1000 points Each) Vs We and Brets. Both were considered stable alliances (basement game)
    Layout: Forrest on ether side of the board, river with bridge cutting the board in half.

    Deployment: DE deployed on the road, with the chariot and hydra as flank guards for the spear block. I deployed Skinks on far left flank and salamaders on far right flank. TG w/Skink were to the tight of the chariot providing flank protection and the saurus block was backup. I had 5 chameleon skinks deployed in the back field. Brets (2 units of 6, 1 unit of 10 Hvy Cav) were poised to charge down the road, with the WE in the trees flanking.

    Turn 1: Salamanders move up and flame WE scouts in the bushes, kill 3/5 and break the unit. WE run back into the river Chameleon skinks shoot into the WE archers in the back, no damage. Skrimishers move up and shoot 6 man unit of knights (20 dice, no 6's) no damage. All other units move up to bridge and form a kiling pocket (as seen in photo). Large template in the background is the uber death spell dropped by our death mage. Commet did not get cast this round. Opponents: WE rally and get brought back by Bretonian Life mage. Lots of shooting, loose chameleon skinks.


    Turn 2: Salamanders eat 3 handlers and flame WE wild Riders killing 1, make save. Comet gets cast to the left of the bridge for terrain denial, and purple ball of death miscasts and goes pop. 10 man cav unit charges spear horde and tarpits there (cav unit has ruby goblet). More shooting, no wounds from skinks (bloody armor and lady saves). Opponents: More shooting, loose all but 1 handler not much else.

    Turn 3: Salmanders move up and flame wild riders. Kill 1, dont break. Chariot and TG perform flying X into 6 man cav and wild riders. Wild riders wiped out and Cav reduced to character. Hydra charges WE archers in back field and they flee, hydra ends up in the river and faces Cav unit on the bridge. Skinks pursue archers. Opponents: Reserve cav unit charges TG, Great Hawk flies to support archers by salamander, Salamanders reduced to 0 handlers and 1 unit, pass break test, roll 5 on random chart.

    Turn 4: Salmanders charge Great eagle at waters edge, deal 2 wounds, take 1. Comet goes off and kills a knight, hydra charges knights, knight break and run through TG and Chariot, stop short of board edge in the river. WE archers in the back left continue to flee. DE spear block charges reserve cav in combat with TG, break and overrun them. Death mage nukes WE caster. TG and Bret character wiff alot. Saurus unit moves to back up far flank. Chariot pivots and preps to charge large red cav unit. Oponents: Salamanders kill 3/5 WE skrimishers, Dies.

    Turn 5: chariot charges Red Cav unit, breaks it and it flees off of the board. TG and Bret character wiff alot more. Skink Skrimishers catch and shoot at the fleeing elves, fail to wound. Elves Rally. Opponents: Archer unit on the right moves in to flank chariot, 2 remaining WE skrimishers charge chariot. Chariot breaks and runs.

    Turn 6: Chariot is overtaken and destroyed TG finally kills Bret character Saurus W/ oldblood charge and engage WE archer unit and wipe them out.

    Final score:
    Brets 0 units on board
    WE: 1 unit (2/5) skrimishers, Full unit of archers
    LM: TG (8/10) Saurus (16/18) Skink Skrimishers (6/10) Skink Priest (1/1)
    DE: Hydra (1/1) Spear Block (?/42) Death mage (1/1)

    Overwhelming victory for LM/DE combo. Gates to the city are open, Nex week we assault the city. 2000 points per player (4000 to 4000 total)

    Thanks Ill take more pics of the next game.

    I have to say the Salamanders were my fav unit of the fight, they broke a unit in turn one and would have survived if not for the life mage healing the unit. 2nd would be the TG, they munched the crap out of 2 paladins and a unit and a half of realm knights and took 3 wounds to do it. Lastly the Saurus block for totaly annihilating a unit of WE. Also Definite kudos to my partner the DE player who tar pitted the Uber knights of death (2 characters, 1 paladin, and only hurt on a 3+ non magical attack) and managed to break them and chase them off of the board.
