Hey guys I have had lots of experience in 7th edition however since the latest edition has come out, i havent played a game. So ive read many threads and i wanted to create a list without a slann in 3000pts Core: Saurus Warriors 36 Spears full command Skinks 28 Skinks 3 Kroxigors Full Command Special: 10 CoC Full Command Standard oif Discipline Temple Gaurd 14 Haldberds Full Command Wailing Banner Sword of Might Rare Stegadon Heroes: Scar Vet BSB War Banner, Light Armour, Shield Skinks Priest EoTG LVL 2 Dispel Scroll, Diadem of Power Scar Vet Great Weapon enchanted shield luck stone Lord: Oldblood Carnosaur Armour of Destiny Fencers Blade, Obsidian Trinket My plan is is have a block of saurus warriors on the center right with the two stegadons. On the left of the warriors the temple gaurd and the the skink/krox unit. To the left of this again ive got my carno and cav unit to support the skinks. My BSB will go with the temple gaurd and the other scar vet with the saurus warriors. The way it should works is the wall moves up slowly in one solid line with the skink gypsy blocking incoming magic. I want ALL constructed critisism and ALL opinions on the list TheStig
Your skink priest can't have both the diadem and a dispel scroll- both are arcane items. With the unpredictable number of dice you'll be getting in the magic phase, diadem is less reliable. Consider the staff of sorcery from the main rule book, which will give your lvl 2 EOTG priest a total of +4 to dispel. Your BSB needs better protection. The war banner won't do you any good when the enemy targets a bunch of attacks at him, so scrap the magic banner and outfit him with defensive items. On the other scar veteran, there's no point in taking the enchanted shield and a great weapon; you can only use one in combat, and if he's in a unit he really won't need protection from shooting. For the canosaur rider, there's no better item than The Other Trickster's Shard. You'll likely be fighting enemy characters with him, and many if not most will have a ward save. On the monster, it's very unlikely he'll be in contact with any of your own characters. Plus, both his and the carnosaur's attacks will benefit from the item. Your list has no real defense against war machines, which will make short work of your stegadon and carnosaur. Terradons or chameleons will help with that. Not to try and force you onto the bandwagon, but salamanders really are as great as everyone says. One or two will really give your list a boost, and will thin out large infantry groups before you engage them. That's all I can think of for now; good luck.
