Ha! Nice to see someone trying a carnasaur list. I just recently switched over from a slaan in 2000 pts, and I havn't looked back since. A few suggestions I'd like to throw out for you to consider. 1. I've always thought the Blade of Realities is overkill on a carnasaur oldblood. The carny already does S7 hits with D3 wounds on each, so he's a pretty darn good character killer already. I like the maiming shield and scimitar of the sun combo for a colossal number of attacks to help deal with smaller troops in greater numbers, which the carno has a bit of trouble with. 2.While saurus with hand weapons aren't useless, they don't work as well as spear saurus. plus the little block of 10 seems a bit out of place. Wouldn't it be better to A.)split them up to make 2 blocks of 20, or B.)Scrap the little block completely for maybe a salamander or razordon? 3. Be careful with how you use your units. With 3 big points sinks in the carno and 2 stegs with engines, you're going to be sorely outnumbered in many cases. Make sure you have a really set plan for everything, b/c its going to be alot more costly if you make a mistake since you have next to no throw away units. 4. Last question, how do you plan to deal with dragons? Flying monsters look like they could be a pain for you. The carno and stegs can't catch them, and while skinks can pretty reliably deal with something unarmored like a manticore or a griffin, something with an armor save could give them trouble. Just a few things to think on. I like your list, and I think you'll have alot of fun with it when you play. Be sure to write back and let us know howit works out in your next game or two.
Oh right, I forgot to say something about that. I believe the staff of sorcery is the +1 to dispel (you're thinking of the staff of the lost sun). Anywho, the staff of sorcery is pretty situational. You have to know the race you're going up against. The staff is really only worth its 40pts when its used against races that reliably cast spells on a single die. otherwise, a +1 isn't going to do to terribly much. So if you're fighting something like dark elves or ogre kingdoms, or something else thats got a nasty single die spell (support or destructive) i'd pay the points for the staff of sorcery, otherwise, i'd trade it in for a dispel scroll for emergencies and a plaque of tepok for added flexibility.
i play alot of skaven and vc, so sword and staff both can be worth it. but will see after i use it a couple of times, maybe it wont help much. never used a double engine list before. it just sounded good to me with a carnosaur. maybe one day ill play with out a engine and a slann lol. as far as the 10 saurus they are flankers and flank protectors i dont own any more salamanders or terradons. havent updated my models for the book, still using the models i had for last edition.
Oh it was staff of sorcery, i saw staff of sorc, i though what the **** is that, i thought maybe it's that staff wich gives 3 shortbow shots, but it's staff of sorcery, then it's ok though i find 40 pts pretty much for +1 to dispell, but i don't have experience with it, so maybe it's better then you would think.
