Hello fellow lizzies, me and my friends play a lot of games around 1500-1000, and well, soon moving up to 2000, and I was wondering if i can fit a slann mage and a Lord/Hero with a carnosaur in the list (ofcourse it's mostly up to how i build my army) but my question to you is, is it worth rolling with both on a 2k list? Fyi, i mostly play against a magic heavy ogre army, a not so magic heavy chaos (lots of khorn units with tons of attacks), and a shooty dwarf list.
It's possible to run both if you use a scar-vet on Carnosaur, but I don't really recommend it. Between the mage and the dino it will cost nearly half your points. If you want to run a Slann-less list with a guy on Carnosaur as general, it's usually a good idea to bring a couple of skink priests to back him up via dispel scroll, cube of darkness, and casting wyssan's. But you might have trouble finding the points for all that @2K, especially seeing as you still need to buy a separate hero to be your BSB. For that reason, I would recommend a Slann. Also, guy on Carnosaur is not good friends with cannon. There is a decent chance a direct hit will kill both the rider and the mount in a single shot, or kill one and cripple the other. The Slann, on the other hand, gets automatic look out sir rolls, making him a substantially less risky point investment.
You could, but I personally wouldn't take both at 2k. I've been running a carno lord instead of a Slann recently and have had good results, but I certainly wouldn't take him against the dwarf army, and perhaps not the ogres either if he is running one or more iron blasters.
I've long run Carnosaurs but not yet since our new book. If you want to do both, I'd wait til' 2500pts at least. Then you'll be able to afford a proper support package.
I'm sorry, but the carno was unused because it was too expensive for what it did. And it went up in price in this book. There is nothing to consider. It is the biggest disappointment it the current book.
Yeah I wouldn't take both but instead of one ( e.g if you take carnosaur) I would back them up with skink priests so that your foe's magic phase is a bit more safe for you and if you take the slaan there is the added bonus of being able to cast through the skink priests.
