i have seen several people who have carnosaurs on their own, (strewart painted a great one) ,as opposed to kroq-gar,but I have never seen them on GW's site. Do you have to convert, or is there a lone carnosaur model out there?
Yeah its just a matter of not having Kroq-Gar glued on top yet. Much easier to paint when they are seperate.
I believe that GW also sells a lone carnosaur on the lizardmen page. Maybe under bitz or collectivles.
It used to be there. I just checked. It was probably removed when the Storms of Magic was released. The lone carnosaur sold for $35 (US).
is Kroq Gar and Grimloq a worthwhile purchase? Aside from the Battalion, this is the most expensive kit... $77.00 Canadian! I'm not sure if I can justify that price for one Character on a Mount. I've bought a few vehicles (ie Stormravens, Land Raiders) for that amount of cash, but really, that seems kinda rediculous... How often do you people play with Carnosaurs in your list? (Sorry to hijack thread)
A carnosaur is a good, solid choice (the special character is not, make your own old blood) and he will serve an army well IF you want to go for that style of army. These days, a Slann is just so good it is hard not to take one, and that pretty much leaves you with no chance of a carnosaur until over 3000 points. If you like the model, its a cool piece to have. If you can ever seeing yourself wanting a more aggressive combat army with no Slann, worth a look. If not, use your money elsewhere.
Thanks Strewat for the honest advice. I'm leaning towards getting one, because I do like the model. As for gaming, I really don't play that much at all... which is sad. I just find it hard to find 'mature' opponents these days. I do love the other aspects of the hobby though, especially painting. I think it would be a good centrepiece for my army.
Yeah I don't play often enough either... Most of the reason I have mine was just because I loved the model and wanted to paint it. I can tell you it is an absolute pleasure to paint, probably one of my favourite models in that regard. Assembly wasn't too bad either for a large metal model, I pinned all the parts and there were only small gaps to fill. That doesn't matter so much now that it is in resin.. If you buy it, make sure you check carefully for miscasts before assembling.
