I just made a casual list and hopefully i can test it soon. Lords Slann Mage Priest What bonuses He'll have instead of looking up all the items Ethereal, Loremaster, Magic Resist 3, Free power dice, 2+ misscast ignored(cupped hands), BSB, lore of life = 495 points Heroes Scar Veteran Armor of destiny, Cold One, Great weapon = 161 points Core Saurus Warriors 50 in a 10x5 unit with full command and spears = 630 points Skink Skirmishers 30 in 3 units of 10 each. All with blowpipes = 210 points Skink Cohorts 24 skinks and 3 Kroxigors with standard bearer and musician = 289 points Special Units Stegadon = 235 points Temple Guard 20 with the slann. Full command, Banner of Eternal Flame = 461 points Rare Units Salamander Hunting Packs 3 of them with extra handlers = 240 points Aincient Stegadon = 275 points 2996 points Now i just need to find something to use the last 12 points on. Any suggestions? And any constructive criticism ?
Drop cupped hands from the slann, youll find it pretty useless, with lore of life, throne of wines should be always out, giving the same bonus, swap it to a dispell scroll. Venom totally useless at the scar veteran too. Give him Armor of destiniy and a great weapon. I would also consider of adding an additional monster to the list, a skink priest lvl 2 with dawnstone-plaque of tepok on a steg.
The problem is if the enemy knows lore of life properly he will always try to dispell it. And if he succeed i won't have that security. And I'm a bit oversecuring with my slann since it's so many points in one lord And for the scar veteran, Armor of destiny is 50 points so i would lose the burning blade of chotec wich is the only flamming attack in the army (which is always nice to have, just in case). So he'll be a lot more defensive if i swap the armor and with the great weapon it'll give the same armor reduction. But I'll try it out That won't be possible in this list since theres not points for it, but i have considered testing it.
Belive me, throne of wines wont be an issue. I always play with lore of life, you open with trone, everyone lets it out. If not, you can cast your usefull spells, with will cost more to your opponent If you lack the flaming attack, give the TG-s banner of eternal flame for 10 pts. With that setup, the cowboy has better survival chances, and can damage t6-7-8 monsters with real chances
I was actually thinking of putting him into either the templeguard unit or a saurus unit. But yeah i think the idea with the banne is the propper way to get the fire attacks in the list
I don't see much value to being ethereal inside Temple Guard. I'd rather buy 3 more TG instead. Not a good build. Venom does literally nothing, because it only works with mundane weapons. He really needs more defense. To keep the burning blade, that means either 5+ ward or maybe Dawnstone. Generally scar-vets are better on a cold one. I don't think two spear units make sense, especially the smaller one. You'll take enough loses to lose spear attacks pretty quickly, and Life cannot buff 3 units. You have 3 combat units, but none can fight much without magical support (the TG can somewhat, but you cannot risk them taking severe loses). That means an enemy that can hit all three at once is going to kill one. My theory is that two units should work better. (I've seen Life armies lose because they got engaged in too many places, but I run a Light Slann, so I haven't experimented myself). No reason for a size 15 skirmish unit. Stick with size 10, and maybe find 35 points for a 4th unit. Something on the TG champion like Ironcurse Icon or Other Trickster's Shard or Venom of the Firefly are always good choices for a few remaining points.
ah,sry for the misunderstanding. the scar should be on a cold one, and he should rape the litte annoying units, or with the armor of destiny-great weapon build, he can kill monsters too
4+ ward is pretty good. warmachines will target the stegas, they are bigger targets, less chance to miss them with the shots.
4+ ward is damn pretty good. he is a small target for warmachines, steggas will be the primary targets for them
Yeah i removed 5 of the skinks and gave him a cold one, then i used the last points on a banner for the templeguards so they have flamming attacks
I just edditted the list so it fits with the modifications i made. And I think it looks like something worthwhile
