Hey all. I was just wondering, why are the Catachans basically the same as the cadians? I mean, these guys live on a DEATH WORLD. They fight nature and enemies EVERY DAY. Cadians just guard a gate. I reckon the rules should make the catachans stronger, but they don't want people to quit cadians. What do you think?

I think that the abstracted 1-10 stat scale used in 40k isn't large enough to make a Catachan significantly stronger than a Cadian, when both are compared to a Space Marine or Nob.

I feel it would be fare to give them a 1 point bump and give them a las pistol, close combat weapon and lasgun, so they have +1 close combat attack as well as have the option to double tap

    "Cadians just guard a gate"

    Good one. Just a gate.

Once upon a time Catachans used to have a add-on codex of their own, which included special rules for jungle fighting, and IIRC a +1WS bonus. What they still have is in their special characters. If you take Straken you will effectively get a lot more punch in combat and Harker will give you a nice unit of Death World Veterans.
