I'm interested in this army, seems like they'd have a bunch of crazy rocket artillery. Does anyone know if they are human or what species they are? And does anyone know when they are being released?

Where did you see this army anyway? The US GW site doesn't mention anything that I saw.

P.S. A link would be nice.

    Where they're mentioned: BRB p. 202

As of now they're still labelled as one of the "other races," as are the chaos dwarves.

The Cathay have always been a part of Warhammer lore. They are a human race, and have made several appearances in warhammer as dogs of war units (ninja monks!), but have never had their own army list. As far as I know, there will never be an army book for Cathay, although the idea has come up in many rumour sections on message boards.

A great source for more information on Cathay is the Warhammer Role-playing game (has recently been reprinted). It is in essence an amalgamation of many far-eastern cultures and mythologies. I have seen several people use the empire army list to represent a Cathayan army to great effect (karl-fran on imperial dragon = heavily converted Cathayan emporer on chinese dragon, rocket batteries, lots of crossbows and lots of spearmen)

Here is an unofficial, fan-created army book for Cathay. It is extremely well written, but I've never used it so I don't know how powerful or balanced it is.

It has a lot of (unofficial) background in it and everything.

I heard once that someone asked a guy at GW if Cathay would be human or dragon and their reply hinted that if the army was ever made the majority of the units would be like a human/dragon hybrid of sometype.
