Situation - Temple Guard bunkered slann at 2400. You don't have enough points for an infantry oldblood so if you want character protection you are limited to scarvets. You can get a pair of vets for the cost of chakax, but they suffer from initiative and only offer you the ability to die slowly. Chakax has 4+/5++ (meh), but mutual ASL, rerolls, and good strength can help with cracking open a 1+ save lord. He also makes a good template for beast buffs. The unbreakable buff is nice, and the hail Mary to break a talisman of preservation or armor of destiny is the best shot you have at killing a 1+R/4++ in a challenge outside of a AoBR lord (which won't fit at 2400). Thoughts? I like the model and I'm trying to make him work...
I love Chakax. The model, the concept, the rules. All good. The pricetag in points? Not so good. Truthfully I have no experience with him, but I just can't seem to fit him into any of the lists I write. I just can't seem to justify his points when Gor-Rok is so so much cheaper and is generally better in challenges (which Chakax is geared towards) due to sheer resilience. Not to mention a Slann/TG bunker is already expensive, adding over 250pts worth of a single hero-level character to it makes it a huge chunk of your army's points allowance. When I do fit Chakax into my lists, it's usually a counts-as Scar vet or Oldblood with great weapon, steg helm and other gear. Like I said earlier, I have no actual experience with Chakax and this is all theoryhammer on my part so don't take my word as gospel!
