    Hi fellows

I asked myself how can i make a scar veteran that is legal, and can stand against as many enemy attacks as possible? I ran the maths for enemies attacking with WS3-5 (so they hit on 4+) and S3. And the same simulation against S4, and i came up with a build that would allow my Scar veteran to require an average of 1296 S3 attack, or 648 S4 attacks before he dies. I will nor reveal the build yet, because i wanted to challenge the community to come up with something even better! i am fairly certain that it can not be done, but if i am proved wrong, i learn something new :D

Remember, he has to be legal, and it does not matter what other drawbacks he has (crappy offence or anything like that) and it is against S3 and S4 attacks. Let's not involve any higher S attacks.

    post your build like this:

    Mundane armour of random things
    Phat Armour of magic
    Terrific Talisman of Solidness

and so on. if you have the skills, please post the maths, otherwise i can check them myself.

    GL :D

    Cold One
    Shield
    Dawnstone
    Glittering Scales

    Is your build.

EDIT: Yes I agree this is the toughest build.

For being such a kill joy I'll post this:
Oldblood - Fencers Blades, Glittering Scales, Talisman of Quetzl

Cannot be harmed by WS4 and bellow?

I think the rule book says that a natural roll of 6 always hits. Could be wrong dont have the book in front of me. It still a nasty old blood build.

No you right. BRB pg 50 agrees. This means the Fencer's Blades probably aren't worth it in what case he is only hit on 5+ by opponents with WS8 or higher (or buff/sword of striking etc).

If the enemy has a Flaming Weapon, then it will take 5184 hits to kill the following build:

    Dragonhelm
    Dawnstone
    Shield
    Light Armour

Or add a Shrieking Blade and it can take up to 7776 attacks depending on the enemy's Fear test.

If you take Lore of Light and get Pha's protection (or Iceshard blizzard on the attacking unit), you would make that hitting on 6s only.

I'll go with my favourite here:

    Light Armour
    Charmed Shield
    Dawnstone
    Burning Blade
    Cold One

Re-rollable 1+ asv and can run solo because of the charmed shield so he can take first cannonball straight to face. Also eats hydras and like for breakfast with the burning blade.

Wow you guys! These are pretty awesome :)

I LOVE running solo scar vets. (Because I have a pretty cool conversion for one :p) But they are also really fun and IMO worthwhile. These are some really cool builds you guys have here that I haven't even thought of before.

    Here's my personal fav:
    Light Armor
    Venom of the Firefly Frog
    Dragon Helm
    Dawnstone
    Cold One
    Great Weapon

I'm really liking your build Agrem. I think it's better than mine but I like that mine is a little easier to wound the Hydras with.

@ syypher: your build isn't bad either and it does wound hydra better with S6. But what I like about mine is that it doesn't leave any saves at all to that bugger with -4 asv modifier and flaming attacks. :)

That's an awesome build op. I like agrems for monster hunting and your build seems superior for things like a vet with warriors combo. He could challenge and protect warriors from a lot.

What are your guys thoughts of the toughest legal build for a vet with crown of command? Doesn't leave you with much to play with...but am curious of your guys thoughts.

I cant wait to try some of these builds, alas my next game isnt for 2 weeks!

I am playing Dwarves so think I am going with:

    Gamblers Armour
Charmed Shield (This is just in case he takes a cannon ball to the face)
    Dawnstone
    Cold One
    Great Weapon

he need a 1+ AS re-rollable and a 6+ WS to suffers only 2,5 wounds; so I suppose:

Scaly Skin (5+) + Gambler's Armour + Coldone + Downstone (numbers of attacks divided by results necessary to hit, divide by results necessary to wound, divided by possibility to overcome AS, again, divided by possibility of overcome WS......I'm right???)

What do you think could be the best vet to protect, in general, a unit of saurus with HW and Sield??

@sypher with the Crown of Command not much you can do...
    so probably,

    Cold one
    Light Armour
    Shield
    CoC
    charmed shield
    biting blade

something like that, or a talisman of protection perhaps...

Slight problem with 2 shields on that build...

If you want the Crown of Command and you don't mind your SC wearing two hats you could try:
    Cold One
    Light Armour
    CoC
    Dragonhelm
    GW

Ya i know with CoC there isn't much to work with anymore as far as points go..but is that really the most durable we can make him? Boo :(

I really like the idea of a CoC Vet in a massive horde of Saurus Warriors for aviling/grinding people out.

I can't find Charmed Shield or Dawnstone in the army book. Is the info in the main rulebook?

Yeah the main rulebook has a list of over 50 magic items that any army can use, they're in there.
