First off I would like to give a description of how something like this would happen, if you would like to skip to the next paragraph and review the rules query please go right ahead. I have been running a list that tries to lure dispel dice out of my opponent while generating as many power/dispel dice for me for magic control in which to enhance my saurus blocks (I was running 2x Troglodons, 2x skink priests, 1 slann, 2 bastiladons, several blocks of saurus, and 3 small skink skrimisher units). My opponent and I decided to play with mystical monuments, rolling to recieve 2 random monuments each and then placing them on the table to our liking. I rolled arcane ruins and elven waystone, right away the cogs in my head started turning and an evil little laugh was let out as I rubbed my finger tips together. For the sake of the game we rolled off on rules that seemed unclear, at the conclusion we agreed that monuments add another dimension to the game, and will be doing it again some time in the future. I have 2 sets of questions the first concerning slann, the second concerning Troglodon riders with divining rods Slann May a Slann with Harmonic Convergence (an additional 2 dice while channeling) and Channeling Staff (+1 to channeling attempts) within 6" of both Arcane Ruins (may roll up to 4 dice while channeling) and Elven Waystone (+1 to channel) roll up to 6 dice while channeling? (is it up to four dice with an additional 2 thanks to Harmonic convergence, or does the Arcane ruins cancel this rule out?) Is the Elven Waystone and the Channeling staff cumulative (4+ to channel), or is this purely on a 5+ If the Slann rolls 3 dice only(thanks to Harmonic Convergence) and they all come up 6's does he still suffer a miscast (choosing not to take advantage of the Arcane ruins but still within 6 inches)? The Troglodons with divining rods The divining Rod states "allows to channel... as if he were a wizard" if the Troglodon were within 6" of either the Arcane ruins or the elven waystone, may the rider take advantage of these special rules (the ruins specify that they will affect wizards within 6", but the Oracle is allowed to channel as if he were a wizard, and a wizard in his situation would be allowed to take advantage of the ruins)
Yes the Arcane ruins cause miscasting while channeling. The full rules can be found in the BRB under "mystical monuments" section.
I've seen arcane ruins as being exclusive, but it's about when it's factored in, whether items takes precende, or the ruins does, sinc eas you say, harmonic gives aditional dice, the ruins tells you to use a certain number of dice. I'd say the troglodon cannot use the arcane ruins. He cannot be chosen, since he is not a wizard, even though he channels as if one. Per the same logic, i would deny Warlocks the bonus. Waystone and channeling staff is definetly cumulative, nowhere does it say the bonus is exclusive, in fact, most buff spells work several times on the same target (2 iceshard blizards, 2 wyssans wildform, etc.)
