I'm not particularly interested in doing this myself (it would be nice to have a relatively good army for a change), but has this been done? I realise fluff-wise they're the least likely army to be corrupted, but I'm sure you could justify it (no slaan, corrupted spawning pool, it just looked cool conversion wise, etc). I'm just wondering if anyone has any images of this type of army
Im making a unofficial army book based around the concept. I think I made it hold up fluffwise pretty good, as its corruption with a slightly different twist to it. You could justify it by having a Slann touch ground (they cant due to the influence of chaos) ...but thats cheesy and pretty uncreative.
i think they are just impossible to corrupt. Saurus and skinks follow the Slann, and the slann is a creature made by order in a similar way to the Old Ones. In the old book it was mentioned that Slanns use their palanquins because touching the corrupted world with their bodies would delete their magic ability... so the answer is no IMO. However we're talking about giant humanoid lizards and fat frog wizards: it's already quite strange, so... who matters their alignment?
Well there are the "feral" Lizardmen far to the East (South of Cathay, in the fantasy stand-in for what seems to be India/Southeast Asia/Indonesia), so I don't think it would be stretching the fluff to create a chaos LM army and lore.
We discussed "Can Lizardmen Go Bad?" this on the fluff sub forum. I think individual Lizardmen can Fall, but I find it unlikely that a whole society has fallen. The feral Lizardmen of the East are more like animals than minions of Chaos.
I'd be interested to read it when you're finished! There is definitely an isle of feral lizardmen - I'm not sure of the whereabouts of it though. I think it might be called the Dragon Isle or something? If it's written somewhere it might be the 6th codex as that's the only one I own at the moment
I think I remember reading about Slann meditating and sending their spirit or whatever to the warp to battle chaos. As powerful as they are, if some of the top-tier greater daemons (or Tzeench himself) could defeat a Slann while in the warp, they might be able to corrupt the Slann? Just an idea. Lord Zhul also got a bit confused by a Daemon, and although that's a long way from being corrupted, it's a precedent that shows a Slann can at least be influenced. Corrupt the Slann and the Saurus would follow. Not so sure about the skinks, they wouldnt follow so mindlessly but I think they would be easier to corrupt than a Slann. It could be done, with a good backstory to explain exactly how. I personally like my lizzies being "good", and already have a backstory, but I would like to see chaos lizards done. The army could look awesome, with black Saurus and corrupted Stegadons.
The feral Lizardmen were indeed on the Dragon Isles, southeast of the Dark Lands just to the south of the Mountains of Mourn. I think they had rules for a Man-o-war unit or something like that, but I can't remember it was so long ago. Basically they're like Southlands lizardmen with absolutely no Slann influence at all, reverting to primal instinctive behaviour and living in small tribes in the wilderness. I've seen some really cool tribal style conversions but don't remember much background behind them.
Well you can make a lizardmen themed beastmen army, as I believe there is a line that the beastmen around Naggaroth are scaled. So saurus being Gors, Temple Guard being Bestigors, Skinks being ungors, no slann, Kroxigors and Minotaurs, and stegadons can be chariots. Salamanders and Razordons could also be minotaurs. Lots of options.
I did sort of think about a Nurgle themed Lizardmen army, something that might have come about from somewhere like Chaqua because of the plagues of clan pestilens, and I think it could still be worth exploring. I just don't think I'm up to painting a whole new army with boils n stuff sculpted all over them.
That's a really cool idea. It's not something I'd be motivated to do myself, but I'd love to see someone do that.
I'd be up for it, but I haven't played in a long time - I'm just getting back into the hobby but probably won't get to game regularly for a few months. So depending on when you release it I might not be much use due to my lack of experience with the normal book/rules
Dunno if this could be used: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer/Warhammer_Monsters/KAZYK-THE-BEFOULED-ON-ROT-BEAST.html
