So recently I have been obsessed with Chaos Space Marines. I wasn't really wanting to go with a 40k army at all but my girlfriend decided she was considering doing a chaos demons army to play with fantasy and since it can go with 40k as well i figured why not? Tyranids and dark eldar first grabbed my attention. Space marines use to make me cringe just because it was so common up here. But the chaos space marines with the new heldrake and maulers i can't resist. My one question though is can you use other daemons pieces with it? The main piece I have in mind is the Soul Grinder. It is such an amazing looking piece and would love to have it with the army once I get it bought and painted. Anyone know anything about this army that could give me some insight?
Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons (and the Soulgrinder) are two separate armies, but the new 40k rules allow allies by default so it is possible to field a Soulgrinder with Chaos Space Marines. Chaos Marines are perfect to play if most people run loyalist Marines in your area. It is an iconic matchup and CSM have some specific tricks against SM, like the Veterans of the Long War upgrade.
thats awesome thanks! soulgrinder was a piece i would likely get just to have but if i can put it in an army thats even better! And thanks for the tip about SM. I haven't done anything with 40k yet but I plan on it after christmas. I will post pictures once I start working on them. I need to work on some painting techniques to get the look I want so it may be a while.
As a long time chaos marine player I can tell you it's a blast! Nothing is quite as satisfying as crushing the skulls of the corpse god's lapdogs beneath your adamantium shod boots!
yeah im excited to get it started but i still have a lot to do with lizardmen and i am still trying to learn how to play :/ just haven't had the time these past few months to commit to it. I will be gradually collecting the pieces though. I have some regular space marines from the spacemarine/tyranids box set. If I can I may use those to make some chaos space marines to start the army. My original plan with those was to put lizardmen heads on them lol.
