for various personal and fluffy reasons I wish to make a lot of jungle swarms. So far I only have the two bases' worth included in the battalion box. Since I don't feel like getting more cold ones right now, what are other good options? does anyone know of some good conversions / alternatives?

Snakes are easy enough to make with green stuff.... :smug:

My swarms are a mix of the Jungle Swarm, General Swarm (Spiders and Bats, plus two Snotlings), mixed in with some rats from my few Skaven. I made 12 bases in total from them - it keeps it varied whilst having a similar aesthetic. Plus, painting them exotic colours keeps them Lustrian :)

I used the snakes from the cold one kit, with a few plant related bits i had laying about.

thanks :) I think I'll look for some toys or such that could feasibly fit on the 4x4-bases. Otherwise it's greenstuff. Presumably beetles wouldn't be that hard to sculpt either.

I bought three battallion boxes and used the snake bits from there. A lot of snake bits go online. You can check out Hoard O' Bits on e-bay. They usually have additional snake sprues from the Battlion box sold for about a dollar a piece (plus shipping).

Another option is to go look through a toy store (or more likely a general hobby, not a gaming store and look for their "scientific toys" which seem to be in most hobby stores) and buy some cheap plastic snakes and lizards or very small dinosaur toys to glue to a 40 mm base.

I've managed to get 3 base's worth from the Bastiladon snakes.
A lot of them are the half-modelled ones that are slithering out of the ark, so you have to get a little creative. I made it so they look like they're coming out of little holes and burrows in the base, or just covered the incomplete ends with vegetation.

Dollar stores. You can usually find some small plastic toys like snakes or crocodiles in a big bag for like a buck or two.
