7th Ed. chief on ancient or priest on engine?

i finally bought a stegadon that i wanted, but now that i have it i don't know what to choose.

put my skink chief (general) on an ancient stegadon, or skink priest on engine of the gods?

please help.

I find that a normal steg is better value than an ancient, if you want the chief there save all the points and just give him a normal steg. The engine does seem much better value than having a chief on steg though, adds a new dimension to the army and is very powerful. It depends on what you want your army to do and what else you are taking.

 

Magnetize like I did so you can switch on the fly Since the main carriage remains pretty much the same for all configurations you can just magnetize the bolt thrower and the engine front piece. The engine platform itself can just sit on top.

In game terms, not modelling, take EotG, cos they're real freaking badass.
Best scroll caddy in the game if you are going combat-heavy.
Awesome buffing unit if you are going magic heavy (Slann).

 

would you say just make the priest in the engine my general and just get rid of my skink chief?

My advice would be to magnetize it. That way you can field any combination until you find one that you like. Personally, I quite like the Priest on the Engine. I haven't even tried the other options, though, so I'm a bit biased.

 

i just wanted to use a stegadon and chief as protection and as a hard hitting unit, but people say that with the army im trying to make i need more magic power.

Yea, magic is never a bad thing to have, especially if you plan on facing any magically lacking armies, like Brettonia. While a Skink Priest is no Slann by a longshot, they do alright.

 

Do both.

I certainly am in the army I'm raising, but then my army is wholly Skinks (+ their various mounts). They both have logical uses & give great support to any Lustrian legion.

(Which is why I didn't vote on this poll.)

 

i'm running an all skink army as well, and am trying to spend most of my points on other units that are great for supporting a low strength army like terradons, razordons, and many units of skirmishers. i would very much like it if you posted your list since i am always looking at other skink forces for new ideas.
