What would be an average amount of cold one riders, the current planned list I have only has 5 considering their cost I was wondering is it better to stick with a small squad and hit hard on the flank or greater numbers so they last abit longer. trying to decide if I should get some more and maybe stick them with the carnosaur or stegadon.
Use 5 Cold Ones with a Standard. That's just under 200 points and very effective! That what I'm running right now. Some might like to put in the drumplayer and champion, and they can of course do whatever they want.
The average is prolly 5 with no upgrades or standard... Some perfer to field 6, or 5 with a scar-vet... Many will put warbanner in with the unit if their is a scar-vet or scar-vet bsb in the unit... I run mine 6 wide as a minimum...My current number in a 2000pt list has only 5 with full command, but I have an oldblood and scar-vet BSB so they go 6 wide with one man in the back rank to absorb some shooting... Mine is meant to be a heavy hammer, so I have Huanchi's Blessed Totem as the cold ones standard...and Sun Standard of Chotec on the BSB to help em survive shooting...Bolt throwers only hit mine on 6's...
What do you want them to do? Light support: 5 with no upgrades, move up a flank and hit flanks. Hit the front of a unit: Full command, 6-8 models, just goes straight on from your deplooymet to whatever they can crush easy,. Break through, and tun to face other units.
I usually fielded 5 with a Scar Vet inside, as a my heavy cavalry. So 6 wide, they work very well that way in my experience.
Use 5, and a scar-vet if u can fit him in. Imo more is just a waste of points that could be used on somthing else. Dam cold ones... why do they have to be expensive
