8th Ed. Combined Arms Tournament

    I know a few of you guys out there play High Elves so I got an interesting tourney for you to think about.

    2600 points,
    Within that point total you can have an allied army group that contains 1 Hero 1+ Core, 0-1 Special, 0-1 Rare
    Any suggestions on what you'd stick in there?
    Example:
    10 Archers + Flaming
    1 Beast Mage
    30 White Lions + Swiftness
    1 Eagle

    They would spend from the %'s of the 2600 points categories

    Not sure I'd take the High Elf Mage at all. Why take power dice away from your Slann? If I were to take him, it would be more for the Annulian Crystal than his casting ability. I might go for Shadow as well, since Miasma can reach anywhere. Or Metal, since Seering Doom is worth 6-dice against the right target.

    Archers should have a musician so they can swift reform and shoot. If you are springing for the flame banner, I would spring for a few more archers as well. 10 averages less than 1 wound a phase on an Abomination, so most of the time the flaming banner is doing nothing. I'd say go to 14+ or just leave them at 115 points.

    Swiftness on a White lion horde is cool, but do they need it? As with the Mage, why not take Banner of Sorcery and power your Slann?
    Probably worth giving the champion a magic item as well. Amulet of Light (magical attacks) is handy, as is Skeinsliver (+1 to go first). Just don't waste a weapon or save on him.

    Some great points in there. Banner of Sorc on the WL great idea.
    Rather than a mage I could use Korhil or Caladryn (I have both models)
    I think Caladryn for the MR would be best but Korhil certianly makes more sense as the commander the allied army.
    I want to minimize my core cause I'm spending a ton in speciall on WL and TG so 10 archers with mu sounds straight forward.

    I put some thought into a lvl 1 metal though. We do have a ridiculous meta for 1+ armour saves, and two unkillable dreadlords.
