Convertable Bastiladons?

Has anyone tried magnets or something similar to switch a Bastiladon between an Ark of Sotek and Solar Engine yet?

If yes, how did it work for you?

I'm planning an alternate platform for the Ark of Sotek; It will have the 4th crewman on it, a bunch of snakes, and some how the right hand for the rear skink.
So for me, it will be as easy as swapping out the entire top piece.
