Not the cost of how many US$ I've spent on these models--I'd rather not know that number! Question. When people put the number of points they have of a certain army up, say, in a signature line, how are they calculating that? I just added up my Seraphon models--I have 196, not counting two Blot Toads. I have at least one "copy" of every currently available unit except for an Engine of the Gods. a unit of Terradons. and a Dread Saurian. When I added up the number of points they're worth in matched play, ignoring extras (so, counting 50 of my 52 Saurus Warriors, for example, and 5 of my 8 Saurus Knights), it came to just over 5,000 points. That can't be right, can it? Because that's a lot of points, and yet I still need more models. Not just the ones I don't have any of, I need three more Razordons, and another Salamander, and more Saurus Guard and you can never have too many Skinks and and and...
Welcome to Warhammer!!!! No surprise in you having 5000 points, god knows how many I have but it's a lot..... If when collecting you have one list and that's all you play 2000 points of models would be perfect but we can't have one list so you need at least one of everything that is available, sometimes more for example, I have 4 Stegadons and 2 Carnosours that's nearly 2000 points
Pretty much the same here. 1. Collecting. My goal is to have at least one of every Seraphon unit. Regardless of whether they fit my play style. 2. Options. In our army there is no "best list", but different philosophies and styles of play that can be effective and even competitive to a certain degree. So I have a lot of units that I do not regularly play. A list that is not played a lot because it isn't effective against Tzeentch (a very common opponent right now because they are very strong) might get more useful in the future, when people play other armies more often. 3. Experimentation and fun. I have a lot of fun playing, but playing the same thing (even if it is effective) all the time can be boring. So I do stuff like tell my friend and opponent: "I want to play a Firelance against your Ironjawz today". Not because the Firelance is the best list, just because I want to. So if you look at this: Firelance Starhost at a minimum needs: 15 Saurus Knights (better 20) Scar Veteran on Cold One or on Carnosaur (different play styles) Eternal Starhost at a minimum needs: 15 Saurus Guard (better 20) Eternity Warden Shadowstrike Starhost at a minimum needs: 20 Skinks (50 if you want to be effective) or maybe Chameleons- But 5 of them are meh, better get 10 Starpriest or Priest, both make sense so you get both 3 Rippers or Terradons (both might be worth it), but to be effective you need 6 of them. Sunclaw Starhost at a minimum needs: 30 Saurus Warriors (60 if you want to be effective) Sunblood Kroaknado at a minimum needs: Kroak Astrolith Bearer Balewind Vortex Thunderquake at a minimum needs: EotG or Troglodon (so you get both, sometimes the EotG doesn't fit) Bastiladon (hmmm you should have two) Stegadon (or maybe two, long range stuff and nice melee) Some Kroxigor ...or maybe Salamanders or Razordons? two of each might do for tests... ...with Handlers of course and of course everyone needs a Slann for support... ...I guess you see where I am going with this. If you only add together the ones above you get a LOT of points already. In fact those are.... 5600 points already. ..without Oldblood, Oldblood on Carno, a Starseer, and some other stuff you might want...
I'm going to count up the point cost of the Seraphon in my possession, I'm intrigued to see what I have now.
I am curious about that, too! My rough estimate about my own army is that I have around 5700 points of Seraphon (if I build the rest that I already own, I have some unfinished Seraphon stuff) and some 2500 points of Death.
2 OldBlood on Carnosaur 560 2 Scar Vet on Carnosaur 480 1 Troglodon 180 3 Bastilidon 840 1 Dread Saurian 380 1 Stegadon 240 1 Slann Starmaster 260 1 Lord Kroak 450 1 Balewind (basically just Kroak add-on) 100 1 Sunblood 120 1 Old-blood on foot 120 1 Eternity Warden 140 1 Skink Priest 80 2 Skink Starpriest 160 1 Scarvet on Cold one 100 5 Chameleon Skinks 120 6 Ripperdactyl Riders 320 40 Saurus Knights 800 120 Skinks 600 80 Saurus Warriors 800 5 Razordons 200 15 Skink Handlers 200 45 Temple Guard 900 8,150 and i've only been playing for 3 months! Ouch!
The majority of boxes you can buy bring in somewhere around 200 points at minimum. So points accumulate really quickly. So dn't be too surprised at having over 5000 points while still needing loooooooooooooooooads of stuff
What I have: Allegiance: Order Leaders Slann Starmaster (260) Skink Starpriest (80) Skink Starpriest (80) Skink Priest (80) - Priestly Trappings Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One(100) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur(240) - Warblade Saurus Eternity Warden (140) Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) Battleline 20 x Saurus Warriors (200) - Clubs 20 x Skinks (120) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers Units 10 x Chameleon Skinks (240) 3 x Kroxigor (160) 4 x Razordons (160) 1 x Salamanders (40) 15 x Saurus Guard (300) 3 x Skink Handlers (40) Behemoths Bastiladon (280) Dread Saurian (380) Stegadon (240) Total: 3300 / 2000 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 180 Guess I need to buy some more. Like a second basti for thunderquake 3 or 6 rippers Box or saurus and skinks
Well I’ve counted what I have and used the GHB17 to apply the discounts for hordes etc. I’m sitting at 9030 points atm but I need another Basilidon so it will be 9400 ish
I count my models for painting purposes only. I do this in an equivalency points system. Infantry is worth 1 Monstrous infantry (ogre sized) worth 2 Cavalry worth 2 Monsters with crew or without 5-10 depending Things that do fit into this scale on a case by case basis
This was taken today when I counted what I had, I need to do close ups etc but I have around 40 models to paint that's all, missing from the pic is a steggy and 3 sallys still in the boxes
I have an excel file of shame where I track these things, 3 razordons are on order, I probably have around 6500 points right now and I need 3 more rippers and probably another bastiladon, dont have any terradons or sallies which could potentially change in the future. Not to mention you always need more skinks... oh and I wanted to grab another start collecting to convert some more temple guard...
