hey guys and gals. i hope there is gals..... that would be neat look just wondering about lord croak as a general. how do he fair, his weakspots, exct. from anyone who has played him
Never played with him. Seems to expensive and one dimensional. Maybe as a point filler for 4k+ games, but in normal 2k games I would prefer a more versitile slann. If you like the model, use it as a normal slann would be my advice.
Haven't actually tried him yet, but just from looking at him he seems like an inferior choice to a normal slann. Reasons being 1. he only has one spell(which only does aoe damage), a normal slann can choose any lore and know all the spells in that lore 2. he's 600 something points while a bare bones slann is only 275, and even when fully kitted is still less. There are probably other reasons why he is bad but those are two that stick out in my mind. In my opinion you can get a lot more utility out of a normal slann for cheaper. That's my 2 cents
I'd consider using him in 3k battles with another slann, each in 16 strong TG units. The other slann would have shadow magic, and could use kroak's dice the first few turns to pewpew, then the slann unseen lurkers the kroak tg anvil into the middle of the battle and tries to join in too, hopefully so that when Kroak starts using all 6 PD he can be getting the spell off 2-3 times, hitting a fair few units (try and get a big snowball fight in the middle with kroak's tg at the centre is the plan). Even then he's probably not worth it anyway.
ok so basically to suptstitue i could have like a 2 or 1 generation slann or somthing. or just a reg 4 gen. or another lord instead
Sounds like you have the old 6'th edition book. There is a new one now. No more generations or spawnings in the LM.
A few months back someone brought Kroak in a 2250pt tournament and proceeded to annoy everyone he played very greatly. My opinion is that if its a legal list its a fair list but alot of people dont share that opinion. My brother plays high elves and had to go up against kroak and all he had to say was "This is the most un fun game ive ever played". The next month the same guy showed up with a new very well balanced lizardmen army without Kroak and did very very well. I like Mazdamundi alot better and dont think he is nearly overpowered as Kroak. Besides if you show up with a amazing converted/painted Mazdamundi then who has the right to bash you? You put in incredible effort and earned the right to use the big character.
yeah i see wat you mean. ill probably just use lord croak as a show piece then lol. paint his up real nice.
The fluff in the Lizardmen book talks about a lot of the relic priests which are mummified slanns with their essence bound within their frail bodies much like Lord Kroak. I think with a bit of a background story and/or personal touch Lord Kroak could well be used as a 'regular' slann in your army just using the model as a really interesting centrepiece. I've been contemplating doing the same for my own army.
I think he is a viable choice in 2k games, maybe better on 2250... But the list will be sort of Star Dragon... Put Kroak on a 11 Temple Guard unit (they are unbreakble so they don´t need to be full), this way you can save some points, put 2 Engine of Gods, one on each side of the TG+Kroak Unit... A unit of 3 sallies, and about 4 units of skink skirmishers, this to outflank the enemy... Use the flank denied tatic and MARCH over the enemy.... You can think that a few enemys could stand against de 1D6 from each engine of gods plus 2, 3 or even 4 d6 of damage from kroak magic, in every unit near!!! In one or in two rounds the enemy shall fall... Furthermore, i believe thas this list/tatica will give the game only one result, massacre, this list will massacre the opponent or the opponets will massacre you... no normal victories or draws... It´s funny anyway !!!
Mord is absolutely right. This type of list is definitely a rock-paper-scissors style. Using the denied flank is also probably the best way to play it. I'd like to see how a list like this would perform in a tournament against lists of the same style.
