8th Ed. cupped hands and power dice

as the cupped hands states it transfers the effects of a miscast to your opponent. at least half of the miscast results say "additionally D6 dice are lost from the power pool" would this mean that you still loose D6 dice?

The loss of power dice is one of the effects of a miscast.

So no your pool is saved but the loss of x-power dice does not affect your opponant, it just become null.
However reduction of wizard level etc still goes ahead on the opponant.

Yup it is lost as, A) you are not the one suffering the miscast result and thus loose no dice, and B) the enemy dosen't loose dice as he has no power dice, he has dispel dice.

A new FAQ was just released today that addresses this question:

Q. A Slann Mage-Priest miscasts and successfully passes the miscast
to an enemy Wizard with the Cupped Hands. When the miscast
result requires D6 power dice to be lost from the power pool, are they
still lost from the power pool or, as the miscast has been passed over to
the enemy, are they lost from the dispel pool instead? (p102)
A. They are lost from the power pool.

So the new rule makes Cupped Hands a little less attractive ...

this faq is $hit i mean cupped hands say on role 2 and more you ignore the miscast so WTF we ignore the miscast but still lose power dice? i say no.

to be totally honest, I'm pretty sure whoever wrote this has no idea what the question is discussing.

keep in mind, that A) the miscast is still applied wholly to the opponent.
B) the opponent has no power pool, the question has nothing to do with WHOS power pool the dice are taken from, only weather they switch to the dispell pool. I'm sure that whoever wrote this assumed one of 2 things.

either A) the the dice are removed from the sufferers next power pool(I haven't seen it played this way)
or B) they didn't care, as the question just asked whether the player could switch the word dispell for the word power.

This is exactly why I typically don't pay too much attention to the GW FAQs, as the FAQ portion is useless since theres absolutely no context to any of the answers(id rather know WHY the answer is what it is, not THAT the answer is what it is).
