So I was going to start Lizards a while ago and have finally finished collecting all the models I needed. Now I was sure I read somewhere that Cupped Hands could be used more than once. But then when I read it again last night it says one use only/. I just want to know if I am going crazy or not. Did I ever see somewhere that says you can use it more than once, in the rule book?
I still take it with Life. It's just to good not to take and it's great for sniping enemy wizards. Throw 6 dice on Dwellers, get IF, pass miscast.
I know it would be good, but the fact that I am spending 45pts on something that I can only use once seems sort of silly if I can have throne of vines. It could be better spent else where
This assumes that you will always have ToV up. Most people catch on pretty quick that if they take it out (in either your turn or theirs) not only does it make your other spells less effective, but it forces you to recast it and use up PD that could be going elsewhere. Having Cupped Hands gives you a bit of protection should you fail to have ToV up and others have already pointed out the offensive capabilities. It's a worthwhile 45 points no matter how you look at it.
If they've faced off against ToV + Flesh to Stone Saurus once they will learn to dispell it. My normal group will actually blow a Dispell Scroll now to stop that combo from getting off. 8 Toughness Saurus, or TG, will stand against anything. It's also an offensive item. Roll 6 dice for Dwellers. Pick the biggest block and it goes off. Roll on the miscast and depending on the miscast snipe a wizard or blow that big block up again twice, assuming he has more than one wizard you get to pick which one gets the miscast.
How does cupped hands interact with "Teclis the cheesehead". does he still get to use his staff that ignores the first miscast each turn?
I'm pretty sure that the latest FAQ says if a flesh to stone (or other life spell) is cast while throne is in play, then throne gets dispelled, the other spell still remains as its powered up version rather than reducing. Makes throne a little less tempting to use your own PD on to dispel, but its still a very powerful spell of course.
The only thing I have seen is that powered up effects continue after the throne that caused them is dispelled. 8th allows multiple remains in play spells to be cast in parallel by the same mage. Why disallow ToV when one of the spells it buffs is RIP too.? Re Teclis, I think his item works v a ToV transfer as this transfers the miscast but not against Cupped Hands as this transfers the effects of the miscast.
